Role Purpose

• Develop, execute and lead ACT’s high performance strategy, in line with Cricket ACT’s vision and strategic plan, to ultimately ensure the long-term sustainability and success of cricket within the ACT and surrounding regions • Integrate different layers of cricket within the ACT and surrounding regions (including Premier Cricket, ACT/Southern District Zone, ACT/NSW Country, Meteors, Transition/Rookie Programs and the Pathway) to ensure that the next generation of players who have the ability and attitude to excel in an elite cricket environment are identified, developed and nurtured • Recruit, retain and nurture talent in all key positions, whilst ensuring players and staff meet the highest standard of performance, both on and off the field • Oversee the operational elements of high performance cricket to ensure programs run as efficiently and effectively as possible and in line with budget and financial responsibilities • Work closely with Cricket NSW to execute and review elements of the current Memorandum of Understanding (between Cricket ACT, Cricket NSW, ) pertaining to high performance initiatives and programs • Develop and deliver structured and innovative programs that ensure best practice coaching, whilst also leading the delivery of coach education and coach development programs and initiatives.

Organisational Environment

Cricket ACT (CACT) is the peak sporting organisation responsible for the governance, development, promotion and administration of cricket throughout the Australian Capital Territory. The vision for CACT is for cricket to be the number 1 sport in the ACT and region. To achieve this vision, CACT has five strategic imperatives: • Enhance the profile and popularity of cricket in the ACT • Become the number 1 hot spot for talent in Australian Cricket • Increase participation substantially and inspire the next generations of ACT players, fans and volunteers • Provide world class leadership and unify all stakeholders of the game • Grow investment and effectively allocate resources

1 Departmental Environment

Cricket ACT’s High Performance department aims to provide programs that are conducive to the development of players who are skilful, responsible, and self-reliant decision makers in match conditions. We aim to provide an environment that fosters the holistic development of a cricketer capable of playing at a domestic level and beyond. The high performance pathway in the ACT is designed to identify talented cricketers and provide them with an effective and integrated elite player development pathway. Players can enter the pathway from ages 12 through to seniors and are afforded opportunities to be selected in Cricket Australia pathway programs and competitions. The pathway seeks to provide opportunities for players across the region to be better prepared and to improve the standard and profile of all local levels of cricket. Additionally, high performance programs provide an environment that balances each players’ cricketing development with their educational, social, and family responsibilities. We aim to develop the personal, social and life skills of each member of the program, and actively seek to integrate our program into the wider cricket community.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and foster a high performance team culture that is professional, respectful, supportive and has a common understanding that collaboration within the team is the key to maximise performance • Management of the ACT Meteors program, including player contracting, program strategy, staff and player recruitment, retention and selection • Ensure players, coaches and staff are developed to their full potential so that, on and off the field, Cricket ACT teams, players and officials meet the highest standard of performance • Manage the delivery of specific projects focused on improving athlete performance, systems, and processes • Utilise research into high performance, analyse performance evidence, sport trends and innovations to ensure program design and delivery is agile and responsive, allowing flexibility to support athlete, coach and high performance gaps/needs • Ensure Cricket ACT has the highest calibre of people in all key positions, including: o Contracted player lists and depth charts o Coaching staff o Pathway staff o Sport Science and Sports Medicine (SSSM) staff o Other support staff • Ensure Cricket ACT has the most effective structures in place for male and female emerging, pathway and senior programs • Oversee the operational elements of high performance cricket to ensure programs run as efficiently as possible in line with budget and financial responsibilities. These elements include: o Team and match scheduling and logistics o Competition and programs administration including Meteors, Comets, pathway and ACT/NSW Country 2nd XI programs o Allocation and management of financial resources to support performance outcomes • Ensure a strong and open relationship with Cricket Australia, Cricket NSW and other state associations • Ensure Cricket ACT and high performance programs are future proofed through strategic planning and execution in collaboration with CEO and other senior managers • Actively and professionally represent Cricket ACT’s interests at National High Performance Managers conferences/meetings • Support ACT Premier Cricket strategy implementation including new initiatives, structures and formats • Provide coaching leadership through the coordination and delivery of Cricket ACT’s Coach Education and Coach Development programs • Formally meet with staff biannually to review professional development plans and commit to delivering on the agreed professional development plan for the High Performance team.

2 Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualifications • Experience delivering a high performance program at a state, national and/or international level for a minimum of 5 years • Success with building a high performance culture and the management of high performance teams • High level experience in relation to the development, implementation and delivery of player and coach development programs and modern technical innovations • Proven ability in strategy design, development, execution and review • Sound administration experience, including budget management, report preparation, record keeping and IT applications • Ability to successfully lead a team and develop individual members to their potential • Ability to perform at senior executive level as part of collaborative, driven, senior leadership team • Success in developing and maintaining successful relationships with key stakeholders including past players, clubs, volunteers, Cricket Australia, Cricket NSW, Australian Cricketers’ Association, ACT Government, Phillip Oval Management Group and the media • High level of ambition, drive and a strong work ethic • Experience with curriculum development and, particularly, sport program design, development and implementation • Be an integral part of the wider business planning process and contribute to the ongoing evolution of Cricket ACT’s strategic plan • Managing multiple projects with demonstrated success.
