There were 40,835 residents estimated to be living in the Camberwell Community Council area when the latest Census was conducted on 27th March 2011. This profile highlights some of the key information for the area. • Camberwell is the only community council area within Southwark for which the population characteristics largely reflect those of the Borough as a whole, with some notable exceptions. • While the proportion of residents aged 65+ (7%) is only slightly lower than the Borough average, this is significantly lower than the national average of 16%. • Fewer than half of the residents in Camberwell are White (47%) which is lower than both the Borough (54%) and national (85%) averages.
