Chairman’s Volunteer Reception awardees

Doreen Bates, from Brockham, organised key events in the village and works with the Brockham Emergency Response Team providing support to those at risk of flooding.

Arthur Birkby, from Addlestone, has set up numerous charities in his local area and ‘Voluntary Support North Surrey’ which has seen support of volunteering and funds handed to local businesses and charities.

Peter Brooks, from Merstham, has been a trustee for Age Concern for over nine years and spends most of his time managing the charities day-to-day finances.

Anne Brummer, from Camberley, runs the Harper Asprey Wildlife Trust which helps preserve and protect animals while also nursing injured animals back to health.

Hayley Budd, from Lower Kingswood, arranges events, camping and activities for the Brownies and Guides in the village while also helping to organise the village fete.

Richard Cleaves, from Ewhurst, has been the Chairman of the Ewhust Charity since 2000 which provides grants to young people for educational purposes and helps those in financial need while also supporting community groups and organisations in the area.

Carole Ann Cole, from Camberley, invites young homeless people to stay in her home until they find their feet and has also helped set up an all-night café which provides hot meals and a safe place for people in need.

Franco D’Agostino, from Long Ditton, recently retired as Director of Sports at Richard Challoner School and has been Chairman of Surrey County Schools for over 20 years.

Simon Edmands, from , has been a huge fundraiser for a number of charities including ‘Friends of Dorking, ‘Carers’ Support ’, ‘MND Association’ and ‘The Brigitte Trust’ and has raised almost £30,000.

Steve Ellis, from Epsom, is a long serving governor at Shawley Community Primary School and leads child protecution, safeguarding and behaviour at the school.

Barbara Harling, from Oxted, has served her community as a district and parish councillor while also being a school governor and a keen supporter of her local church.

Pauline Hedges, from West Byfleet, has helped support the Runnymede Access Liaison Group, The Bridge Project, which helps recovering alcoholics and has also helped organise West Byfleet LI:VE.

Patricia Holbrook, from Thorpe, has helped clean up her local area for more than 10 years while also acting as a point of contact for residents affected by flooding in 2014.

Steve Isherwood, from Camberley, is the founder of the Camberley Street Angels, which helps care for late night revellers who find themselves in difficulties.

Marianne Jaeckel, from Cobham, has gone out litter picking in her area with her dog Basil for more than 20 years.

June Knight, from New Haw, has been volunteering at her local library for more than 15 years and also runs Sunday school sessions for under 5s during church services. Anthony Moore, from Frimley Green, has been Chairman of the Frimley Green & Mytchett Scouts since 1987 and helped raised £450,000 to build a new scout hut. He also helped build the local Church of school swimming pool.

Ann Osborn, from Limpsfield, has been Chairman of Limpsfield C of E Primary School for several years and leads the choir at St Peters Church in the village.

James Osbourn, from Chobham, is a founder member of the Chobham Society, which helps protect Chobham Common and Village. He is also a member of the flood forum and organised the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in the village.

Margaret Parry, from Chobham, has been Chairman of the St. Lawrence Old Folks’ Club for more than 10 years and is also an integral part of the Chobham Neighbourhood Care Scheme.

Jean Pearson, from Capel, is a former district and parish councillor and has helped organised key village events and has fundraised for local and national charities.

Edward Ralph, from Oxted, is a founder member of the Ridge Radio Team and also serves on the Management Committee.

Bernard Salsbury, from , is the Joint Treasurer of the Leatherhead Community Association and at St Marys & St Nicholas Parish Church, as well as being a Church Warden.

Sarah Young, from Lower Kingswood, has been a leader in the village’s Brownies and Guides for several years and also helped organise the Lower Kingswood Fete parade.

Susanna Young Hotz, from Horley, runs the town’s Army Cadet Force and cleans the graves of servicemen and women.
