Northern United States Open Championship – Events begin at 11:00 a.m. Classes: 7 & Under 10 Years 14 & Under 16 Years 21 Years & Over 10 & Under 12 Years 16 & Under 18 Years 12 & Under 14 Years 18 & Under 21 Years

 2020 Championship Steps must be danced for Championships.  Classes will be combined if insufficient entries are received.  Note: Premier dancers may register for both Pre-Championship and Championship events.

Open Choreography Rules: Open dances may include a) Themed or b) Choreographed Broadsword or Reel or a dance which is an interpretation of the music with no theme. Group Choreography entries are submitted by teacher. First place winners receive cash awards. Time Limits: Solo: 3 minutes. Small Group: 3 minutes.  2020 Premiership Steps must be danced for Premierships.

Premier Themed Choreography Competition begins at 3:00 p.m. Event #51 Under 16 Years “Skagit River Hornpipe” 16 Years & Over “ in July”

 Steps, costume and music are to be determined by the competitor.  Length of music may not exceed three minutes.  Please submit choreography music via e-mail to [email protected] by Friday, June 27th.  First place receives cash award.

Rules 1. Dancing competition will run under Royal Scottish Official Board (RSOBHD) rules. 2. The Northern United States Open Championship and Northern United States National Dance Premiership are recognized by the RSOBHD. 3. The committee reserves the right to combine, cancel or divide events. 4. Competitor’s age on the day of the competition determines the class for competition. 5. Event starting times are approximate and subject to change. 6. Dances will compete in inverse order of entry. 7. Any dancer causing delay will forfeit entry in that dance. 8. Judges’ decisions are final. 9. No refunds will be given for dancing entries received. 10. Dancers must present RSOBHD Dance Card at the beginning of their competitive events and prior to receiving awards. All dancers must include RSOBHD card number on entry form. 11. All entry forms must be postmarked by this date. 13. Complaints must be written, signed and submitted by the end of the competition, accompanied by a $25.00 fee, refundable if sustained. 14. Dance classes will be split at close of entries. 15. It is the responsibility of the competitor to pick up prizes at the competition. All unclaimed prizes will be forfeited after August 1, 2020. 16. A competitor is restricted to a maximum of eight solo dances on any one day. 17. For Pre-Premiers, Saturday and Sunday count as two separate competitions. 18. Championship and Premiership dancers are required to notify the Dance Chairman 24 hours in advance if they are unable to compete.

You may use the on-line fill-in form on the website to complete this information: www.celticarts.org RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT I hereby represent that I wish to participate in the Skagit Valley Highland Games & Celtic Festival on July 11-12, 2020 sponsored by Celtic Arts Foundation (CAF). I recognize that any activity may involve certain dangers, including but not limited to the hazards of the forces of nature, and the actions of other participants and other persons unaffiliated with CAF. I understand that these hazards produce a risk of physical harm or death, as well as a risk of loss or damage to my personal property. I further understand and agree that CAF would not be able to sponsor such Events without some form of agreement providing protection for CAF and its officers, directors, paid staff and volunteer workers.

In consideration of, and as part payment for my privilege to participate in the Skagit Valley Highland Games & Celtic Festival, I hereby release the City of Mount Vernon, WA, the Clan Heather Dancers, CAF and its officers, directors and volunteer workers from any and all liability, claims and/or causes of action arising out of, or in any way connected with my participation in any and all of the activities of the Event. I personally assume all risks in connection with these activities, and further agree to hold CAF and its officers, directors, paid staff and volunteer workers harmless from and against any and all liability, claims and/or causes of action which I may have arising from my participation in any and all of the activities of the Event, including but not limited to those involving negligence on the part of such officers, directors, paid staff or volunteer workers, which result in personal injury or death to myself and/or loss or damage to my personal property. The terms of this agreement shall bind myself and my heirs, assigns, and personal representatives.

I agree to allow Celtic Arts Foundation to photograph or record my activities, or those of the competitor for whom this application is being submitted at the Event(s) for promotional purposes.

If submitting credit card information for payment of registration fees, my signature here also authorizes CAF to process a charge against my account in the amount indicated in the “Total Amt. Enclosed” field on this page. I have fully informed myself of the contents of this release and hold harmless agreement by reading it before I have signed it.
