Mr. Kelley was born in Lawrence, Mass., a son ot Cllarles Elliott Kelley, Jr. and Esther H. (Kelley) Hawrty. He graduated trom Tilton Academy- Tlltoo, N.H. and Boston University In Boston, Mass. He served h is country proudly In the Korean War as a member ol the u.s. Armed Forces.

Mr. Kelley was the former owner of the Wrentham Insurance Agency In Wrentham, Mass. for 32 years before becomtng a self· employed lobsterman In Cape PorpoiSe.

He was a 44 year member and past master of the Azt~re Lodge ol Walpole, Mass., Chaplain of the Arundel Lodge 76 and member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Kennebunkport. He was a member or the Maine Lobsterman's Association and the American Legion ol Kennetx.mkport and was a member and trustee of the First COnoregaUonal Church of Kennebunkport.

A beloved son, devoted husband and caring father and frlend, he was a trusted partk:lpant In many church and lodge actMtleS. Through his selflessness and charity, Mr. Kelley served as a mentor and Inspiration to hts family, cl1urch constituents and fellow lodge members.

Mr. KeUey ts survived by his wife. of 50 years, • Eunice (Lilley) Kelley of Cape Porpoise, his mother, Esther of' Kennebunk; four sons, Stephen E. of Sheldonville, Mass., Char1es c. of Scarborough, Jonathan S. of Buxton, and Richard M. of scarborough; two daughters, Sharon E. (Kelley) Carie:ton of Needham, Mass., and Elizabeth M. Kelley of Cape Porpoise; seven grandchildren; and three great - grandcl111dren.

A Masonic service wltl be held saturday, OCt. 4, at 11 a.m. at the First Conoregational Church, North Street, Kennebunkport,

followed by a Memorial Service with the Rev. Bonnie Steinroeder omdatlng. Interment will be In Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport. Re m a rks WINDHAM - Frederick E. Kelley. 8S, a well-known local carpenter, contractor and building-trades instructor at Windham High School, died April 19, 2001. at lhe Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough. Mr. Kelley lived on Chute Road for more than 60 years.

Born at Boothbay Harbor. a son of Arthur and Abbie Brewer Kelley, he attended Boothbay and Gorham schools, and graduated from Gorham High School in 1934. In 1937, he married Agnes M. Sawyer, who died Jan. 10, 1994. During World War 11, he served with the Anny Air Corps.

Mr. Kelley, a carpenter and contractor all his life, taught building construction for 24 years at Windham High School. During the summe..i. while teaching. he worked on various schools in Windham and helped build the fonner Gingerbread Elementary School in Windham. He also helped build an addition to the lown library, helped -.i th coostruction of the local Masonic Hall and built a gazebo for the town's 2SOlh anniversary. He built cedar-strip canoes for the fun of it and he handcrafted whirligigs that he sold. He also taught chair caning in the adult education program.

In his spare time he built boats, cabi nets, musical instruments and many wood...crafi items and was considered an e"pert in restoring woodwork.

He was a member of the Masons and the Chase Cemetery Association. served for several years in the 1950s as a Windham selectman, served on the town budget and school building committees and was also Windham's first building inspector.

Surviving are four daugh ter~ Kathleen Whirlwind Soldier of Windham, Patricia Kdley of Arlington. Va.., fJicn Jordan of South Portland and Barbara Keef of Standish; two sons, Frederick A. of Windham and Russell E. of Naples; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandc hildren. He was born in Waldoboro, a son of Clinton J . and Jess­ ie Vannah Kelley. He graduated from Thomaston High School in 1944 and from Maine Maritime Academy in 1946. He was married to Anne Jacobs KeUey in 1948. He retired from Martin Marrietta Cement Plant in 1983 after seJVing 36 years in various management positions. For the past 15 )le&n!, be worked for Fuller Oldsmobile­ cadillac, Rockland, as a warranty analyst. Mr. KeUey was a forty-year member ol Orient Masonic Lodge #15. He was also a Conner member of the Thomas­ too School Board and former coach of the 'Jbom- aston Little League. As a young man, be played secorul base for the Thomaston Clippers twi-Iigbt baseball league. Surviving are his wife of Thomaston; three sons, Rus­ seD W. of St George, Richard C. of Thomaston and Paul H. or Boca Raton, Fla.; and six grandchildren. Mi.riab, Peter, Katherine, Christopher, Ashley and Joshua. There will be no visiting hours. A celebration of his life will be noon 1'hur.!day at Thomaston Federaled Churdl, ' with the Rev.
