  • Lady Antebellum Feel the Emotions of Ocean "What If I Never Get Over You" Hits Top 10
(11.18.19) - http://www.cmt.com/news/1814806/lady-antebellum-feel-the-emotions-of-ocean/ Lady Antebellum Feel the Emotions of Ocean "What If I Never Get Over You" Hits Top 10 Lady Antebellum decided to take it back to the start with Ocean, a brand new album that echoes their earliest work. Their familiar harmonies and heartaches are on full display on the Top 10 single, “What If I Never Get Over You.” After more than a decade together, Lady A partnered with a different record label and producer to bring Ocean to life. In the video below, band members Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley, and Hillary Scott tell CMT.com about their latest project. CMT: How does Ocean compare to your previous albums? Scott: All of our albums have felt very personal, for sure, but this one I think is the most present. Kelley: The most vulnerable. Scott: Vulnerable, where we are in our life right now, talking about our families and our children. You know, our deepest, darkest inner struggles. I mean, we just really bare it all in these songs. CMT: Where did the title, Ocean, come from? Scott: An ocean brings up so many emotions. You can feel so small standing on the shore, and scared because the waves are crashing around you. You can feel free, you can feel so many different things. And this record I think touches on all of those emotions. Kelley: In waves. There are a lot of ups and downs on this record. Also, too, we really wanted an art piece.

  • Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Lady Antebellum Has Spent Plenty of Time in All Three
747 Planes, trains and automobiles. Lady Antebellum has spent plenty of time in all three. Driven by the need to continually evolve, the country trio always seems to be in transit, pushing toward a newer, bolder sound one minute and hitting the road for a worldwide tour the next. Sometimes, those two things happen at once. With 747 , Lady Antebellum's fifth album, the band captures the speed and spirit of its critically- acclaimed live show in 11 new songs. Bandmates Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood may have formed the group in Nashville, with all three singers harmonizing for the first time around Haywood's piano, but they earned their stripes on the road. That's where Lady Antebellum truly came alive, mixing the rootsy stomp of forward-thinking Country music with the swooning, sweeping sound of three voices that were born to mesh. As the shows got bigger, so did the band's ambition. Written during the 2014 Take Me Downtown Tour, 747 — whose title rustles up the image of a fast-moving plane bound for bigger, better places — doubles as a metaphor for the group itself. After spending years at the top of the Country charts, Lady Antebellum is ready to pull up the wheels and climb even higher. "We started discovering more of an 'in your face' sound that we'd never explored before, so we began writing towards that mentality," says Kelley, who remembers walking into a dance bar after a Lady Antebellum concert and feeling the need to compose faster, fiercer songs that could live in that environment.

  • The Kelley Newsletter Part 4
The Kelley newsletter part 4 The 1940 Reunion The reunion will be held this year in Washington Park, Washington, Pa. I have not learned the arrangements aout the dinner but I suppose it will be the usual clan dinner. Bring your own cups, plates and silverware. Also bring lots of victuals (excuse me for trying to be funny). I have received the following letter from clan president William Lynn Kelley:- "We have had reserved for the Kelley reunion on September first the use of a new shelter just being completed in Washington Park. This shelter is just to the left after entering the park gates. The first road to the left leads up to it and it is easily seen from the entrance. We think that there will be ample room here and that it is an ideal place for the dinner and the meeting." Hot coffee will be furnished. Bring your own coffee pots. Many Thanks. The historian appreciates more than tongue can tell the twenty five dollars given by the clan for helping the magazine work. The printing and the postage amount to about six dollars on each issue. This is the third issue since the 1939 reunion so I have about six dollars on hand now. ********************** THE KELLEY CLAN MAGAZINE PUBLISHED OCCASIONALLY BY: JAMES O. Judah & the Lion Judah Akers, Brian Macdonald, Nate Zuercher, and Spencer Cross recorded their upcoming sophomore album in just two weeks—a whirlwind fitting of their frenetic live shows. On next month’s Folk Hop N Roll, the rock-folk quartet adds a layer of old-school hip-hop, à la Run-DMC and the Beastie Boys, to their banjo-friendly groove. Judah & Co. also embark on their first headlining tour next month and vow to bring that energy to audiences across the U.S. “The truth is we love to have fun,” says Akers. “We do go through stu too, but at the end of the day we’re pretty happy and love getting to do what we do every day.” 2.
