Golden State Horned in Hockey Country Put to the Test May 30, 2017, Issue 552 Hockey Country Put To The Test For those who don’t follow hockey or Carrie Underwood’s Instagram, the Nashville Predators are in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time, losing last night’s first in a best- of-seven series to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Be- yond the action on the ice, the faceoff between the Preds’ ever-growing fan footprint and next week’s CMA Music Festival (June 8-11) is quite the challenge. CMA CEO Sarah Trahern and her team are ready, however, as she tells Country Aircheck. “The tricky piece has been that there were Sarah Trahern so many scenarios for awhile,” Trahern says. “Starting a few weeks ago, CMT made their Speak Easy: Capitol’s Lady Antebellum open Club Labellum decision to move the CMT Music Awards to the Music City Center backstage on their new tour. This brings the 2016 full year growth to -1.51%. The worst performing sector for the period was Mining and Quarrying (-12.04%), while Agriculture remains the top performer with an expansion of 4.03%. We expect a further improvement in Q1’2017 figures. CBN Reviews Forex Policy The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced plans to increase its supply of forex to banks to enable them meet demand for travel, medical and school fees. This will temporarily mitigate the current forex liquidity crisis. However, because the CBN still wants to determine price and quantity, the market will remain fragile. Eurobond Hits Successful Sales The Federal Government has completed the sales of its dollar denominated $1 billion euro bonds at a yield of 7.88%. The offer was almost 8 times oversubscribed, as investors bid over $7.8 billion for the 15-year bonds. These funds will boost and revive the economy. The bond has now been listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange PMI Plunges for Second Month this Year According to the CBN, Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) fell to 44.6 from 48.2 in February. An outspoken patriot, beloved mentor to young artists and still a road warrior at age 80, Charlie has parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children and others in need. Raised among the longleaf pines of North Carolina, Charlie began his career playing bluegrass music with the Misty Mountain Boys. After moving to Nashville in 1967, he began making a name for himself as a songwriter, session musician and producer. Elvis Presley recorded a tune Charlie co-wrote titled “It Hurts Me,” which was released on the flip side of “Kissin’ Cousins.” He played on such landmark albums as Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline and tried his hand at producing the Youngbloods’ Elephant Mountain and Ride the Wind. His own unique voice as an artist emerged as Charlie recorded his self-titled solo album in 1970 for Capitol Records. Two years later he formed the Charlie Daniels Band and the group scored its first hit with the top ten “Uneasy Rider.” Since then the CDB has populated radio with such memorable hits as “Long Haired Country Boy,” “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” “In America,” “The Legend of Wooley Swamp” and of course, his signature song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” which won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1979 as well as single of the year at the Country Music Association Awards.
