Flu Shot/Vaccine Information

State System Health Plan Members – Highmark • All Highmark members, who are age 9 and older, can obtain a no-cost flu shot at any CVS, Giant, , or Rite Aid locations in , and at many other pharmacy locations. No appointment is needed – you must present your Highmark member ID card. Members should confirm that their pharmacy participates with Highmark for flu shots. The State System health plan will be billed directly for this service.

• Highmark members of all ages may also obtain a flu shot from their physician. An office visit co-pay may apply.

Immunizations Available at Retail Pharmacies for Highmark PPO Members Highmark members may receive the following vaccinations at participating, credentialed pharmacies in , New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and . Age and frequency limits will apply.

• Chicken Pox (Varicella) • Coronavirus • Hepatitis A & B • Human Papillomavirus (HPV) • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) • Meningitis • Pneumonia • Polio (IPV) • Rotavirus • Shingles (Shingrix) • Tetanus (Td/Tdap or DTaP)

Credential, participating pharmacies will accept the Highmark ID card and will bill Highmark for the administration, just as they do for flu shots today. These vaccinations will be billed and paid as medical benefits.

NOTES: It is advisable that a member who is interested in having one of these vaccines (other than coronavirus) administered should first contact Highmark Member Services to confirm that they are eligible for the benefit under their plan and that the pharmacy is a participating, credentialed pharmacy with Highmark.

Members should confirm with their pharmacy that they offer the specific vaccine requested and have it in stock at the pharmacy.

For the coronavirus vaccination, all versions of the vaccine are available at no cost to members. The coronavirus booster vaccination will soon be available for members that meet eligibility criteria. Members should contact their providers to determine if the booster vaccination is appropriate for them.

The Shingrix vaccine (shingles) is currently a covered benefit for members age 50 and older who are enrolled in the Highmark PPO plan for active employees and the Annuitant PPO Plan for non-Medicare eligible annuitants. The old shingles vaccine, Zoster, is no longer an approved vaccine for members.
