Whether cycling or walking, the trip through the woods to historic Raadvad, following the Skodsborg Route along the banks of the Mølleåen river, is wonderful. A former industrial village, Raadvad emerges from the woodland greenery. In this isolated location, the old listed factory buildings, once home to a watermill and the Raadvad Knife Factory, were part of a small community of work- shops, housing, a school and an inn. Dating from 1734, it was here that King Christian VI held his famous hunt dinners. The beautiful redoubt area north east of Har- bour forms the setting for The House of Knud Rasmussen. The house, dating from 1917, was the home of the famous Polar explorer. It was here he planned his numerous expe- ditions and diligently wrote his manuscripts when he was in Denmark. Today the house is a museum and memorial.
