Division I & II Diving Prelims and Finals - Friday, May 20 at San Diego Mesa College • Division II Open Warm-ups at 12:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m.; Competition start @ 2:00 p.m. • Division I Open Warm-ups start immediately after the Division II Diving Competition is completed and will continue for and hour and a half and then the Division I Competition will begin. NOTE: A coaches’ meeting will be conducted 20 minutes prior to the start of both Swimming Prelims and Finals

1 Swimming Finals - Division I and II - Saturday, May 21 at Del Norte High School

Division II Division I • Open Warm-ups 7:30 a.m. 1:30 p.m. • Competition 9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m.

*NOTE: At the conclusion of the Division II Swimming Finals (approximately 12:30 p.m.), the pool area will be cleared.

3. WARM-UP PROCEDURES FOR CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS • Prior to the warm-up period, the meet manager will designate a warm-up supervisor whose responsibility is to observe that the warm-up procedures are followed and who should be the deck during the entire warm-up period. • Swimmers shall enter the water feet first, except for starts that are limited to specified lanes. • 45 minutes after the start of the warm-up period, lane 2 of the competition pool will be opened for one-way dive sprints under the supervision of the swimmer(s) coach. • One hour after, warm-up lane 7 (or lane 5 in a 6 lane competition pool) will be opened for one-way dive sprints under the supervision of the swimmer(s) coach. • Additional lane(s) will be opened for one-way dive sprints at the discretion of the designated supervisor. • One hour after the start of the warm-up, lane 1 will be opened for push pace swimming under the supervision of the swimmer(s) coach. • Coaches should stand at the start end of the pool and verbally start swimmer(s) for starts or push pace work. • Swimmers should not be allowed on a starting platform when a backstroker is executing a start in the same sprint lane. • Swimmers shall not swim in the area where the diving warm-up is occurring. • Meet management may remove a swimmer, coach, and/or team from the deck for violation of these procedures.

5. INSTRUCTIONS FOR ENTERING MEET – 2011 - IMPORTANT Coaches must enter athletes and team electronically. Check if that your email and phone number are current. The system is mandatory – it is the coach’s responsibility to ensure that athletes and teams are entered.

7. ENTRIES Each school is permitted a maximum of four entries in an individual event and one team (with up to 8 members) in a relay event. A competitor shall be permitted to enter a maximum of four events, no more than two of which shall be individual events. A competitor’s name may be listed five times (two individual events and three relay events) but may be a participant in only four 2 events. If a competitor appears in more than two individual events, he or she will be automatically entered only in the first two individual events. The fastest 24 qualified entries in each event will be entered into the competition.

8. ENTRY FEES Entry fee is $10.00 per athlete; $50.00 per team will be assessed to each school to defer cost of conducting meet. The school finance office will be invoiced per entries that are entered into meet prelims.

9. SUPERVISION A school coach (or a representative authorized by the school in writing) must accompany all swimmers and divers before they will be permitted to enter the premises at Swimming and/or Diving Prelims and Finals on May 18, 19, 20, and 21. (REMINDER - NO DECK CHANGING ALLOWED)

10. PASSES a. CIFSDS Scouting Cards are not valid for admission to the San Diego CIF Swimming and Diving Prelims or Finals. b. CIFSDS Courtesy Cards, State CIF Courtesy Cards, CIFSDS Media Passes, and CIFSDS Playoff Passes will be honored. No admission without a ticket, participant pass, coach’s tag, or Courtesy Card for anyone, including bus drivers.

11. ALTERNATES, WITHDRAWL, AND FAILURE TO SHOW/COMPETE a. Athletes who withdrawal or fail to show shall be subject to the provisions and restrictions as outlined in the National Federation Swimming and Diving Rules Book. b. Two non-qualifiers from the Prelims will serve as alternates in the Finals. There are no alternates for Prelims.

12. ADMISSION (Please request team members to notify parents in advance that there will be an admission charge.) There are two playoff ticket ranges: Adult – Defined as anyone over 18 years old and Student/Senior – Student defined as anyone age 5 through 18; Senior defined as anyone age 60 or over.

Spectators *Swimming Prelims = $9.00 for adults; $6.00 for students/seniors; no charge for children under 5 years of age. *Swimming Finals = $10.00 for adults; $7.00 for students/seniors; no charge for children under 5 years of age. *Diving Prelims & Finals = $10.00 for adults; $7.00 for students/seniors; no charge for children under 5 years of age. *Includes faculty fee.

Participants - Each school that qualifies athletes into Prelims and Finals will receive at the appropriate entrance an envelope (to be picked up by coach only) with one pass per qualifying athlete plus two tags for coaches. Only coaches wearing tags may sit at the coaches’ table or be in any coaching area(s). See venue diagram for seating areas.

13. METRIC POOL QUALIFIERS If an entry is from an event in a metric pool, the entry time must be identified as having been earned in a meter pool. The coach must convert the time before submitting team and individual entries, using a formula available from the Commissioner’s Office.

14. AWARDS Team trophies shall be given to the championship and runner-up teams. Individual medals will be awarded to the first six places in all individual events and relays.

15. NON-FOOD CONCESSION The non-food concession (T-shirts, sweatshirts, visors, etc.) has been awarded to The Kukulski Brothers. If you have any special requests, contact Dave Kukulski at (480) 921-1975. Coaches are asked to remind athletes and parents that personalized souvenir items are available before, during, and after the event for participants, finalists, and champions.

16. ATHLETE-OF-THE-YEAR NOMINATIONS If any coach has a viable nominee, fill out the appropriate gender nomination form and submit it to the league representative no later than May 21. The CIFSDS Advisory Committee will consider all nominees and make a selection(s) at the post-season evaluation meeting on May 25. (Male and Female Athlete-of-the-Year nomination forms are posted on the website www.cifsds.org; click on Sports; then click on Swimming & Diving.)

17. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PLAYOFF OFFICIALS Coaches of teams participating in the San Diego CIF Championships wishing to have input into the selection of playoff officials, may call Bob Eisele at 760-433-5901 or 760-721-3544; fax to 760-433-6207; or mail to 1987 Andrews Court, Oceanside, CA 92054, a list of up to 10 preferred officials and designate a list of up to six non-preferred officials to Bob, before 12 Noon, May 15. 3 18. CIFSDS RECORD BOOK UPDATE A copy of the CIF-San Diego Section Record Consideration Form is attached to the coach’s copy of these minutes. Follow the instructions on the form and fax or mail to San Diego Sports Publications ASAP.

19. PLAYOFF PARTICIPATION PATCHES Playoff participation patches may be purchased for $8.00 each. Only written orders will be accepted - orders may either be faxed (858) 292-1375 or emailed [email protected]. 21. OFFICIAL CIF – SAN DIEGO SECTION PHOTOGRAPHER Susan Cooper Photography will photograph all CIF – San Diego Section Finals. An official team photo of the winners will be taken and will be available for purchase at www.susancooperphotography.com. Action photos may also be available.
