The report contains graphical summaries of international firms in Ohio and alphabetical company listings sorted into three categories: company name, country of ultimate parent, and county location. The enterprises listed in this directory have 5 or more employees at individual locations. This directory was created based on information obtained from Dun & Bradstreet. This information was crosschecked against company Websites and online corporate directories such as ReferenceUSA® and Hoover’s®. There is no mandatory state filing of international status. When using this directory, it is important to recognize that global trade and commerce are dynamic and in constant flux. The ownership and location of the companies listed is subject to change. Employment counts may differ from totals published by other sources due to aggregation, definition, and time periods. Explanations Company listings in this directory are limited to those with five or more workers at an individual location. However, summary statistics on the total number of establishments and employees by country of the parent corporation include estimates for all establishments, regardless of size. Companies, or divisions of companies, with multiple retail or service locations (e.g., ALDI food stores) were generally assigned one location with an employment estimate reflecting the total for all locations in the state. These consolidated listings are denoted by a company name where all letters are capitalized (e.g., ALDI INC). • In Section 2, which lists companies alphabetically, these consolidated listings include a statewide estimate of the total number of establishments (or sites) operated by the company. • In Section 3, which lists companies by country, summary statistics for each country include the total number of establishments associated with these consolidated listings. • In Section 4, which lists companies by county, consolidated listings have been assigned the location “zz” and appear at the very end of the section. Due to different methodology, time frames, and differing reporting formats, it is recommended that no comparisons be made between this edition and earlier editions of the International Investment reports. Two large institutional food service firms have multiple locations throughout the state. This report underestimates the scope of these operations. The Compass Group (United Kingdom), in addition to operating restaurants, provides food service at a number of college campuses (e.g., Bowling Green, Xavier, and Ohio Wesleyan). Sodexo (France) has contracts with several universities, including Kent State, Youngstown State, Denison, Ohio Northern, and Wittenberg. Sodexo also provides similar services for school districts. SIC – Standard Industrial Classification codes are assigned to a company location based upon the function of the operation.
