The order of sale was determined at the 1999 AGM as follows:- Vendors in the yearling section to be moved forward 10 places with new vendors at the end. Older section to be drawn by lot. The sale will therefore follow strictly in catalogue order.
Brecknock Hill Cheviot Sheep Society: Sheep Scrapie Genetics
The Rams which have been tested for Scrapie Genetics will be in the following groups
1. Group R One Marked Red ARR ARR
2. Group R Two Marked Blue ARR ARQ ARR ARH AHR AHQ
3. Group R Three Marked Yellow AHQ AHQ ARQ ARH ARQ AHQ ARQ ARQ
All the Ram’s in the above groups have a low susceptibility of Scrapie. The risk of Scrapie in their progeny will depend on your Ewe Genotype. If you have a problem with your Flock, Rams from Groups One and Two are the most suitable. However, with a Clear Flock any of the Rams in the above groups will maintain a Scrapie Resistant Flock.
It is the vendor’s responsibility to mark their sheep correctly and the Brecknock Hill Cheviot Sheep Society and Clee Tompkinson & Francis will not be held responsible for any incorrect information received as regards NSP EID No, Blood Results and Grouping supplied by the vendors. A Bolus reading gun will be available for purchasers to check any rams.
