Our new merchandise has been a great success, and our Captain Dan standbys are always popular. Please stop by and say hi. Our Deckhand of the Month in July is Lynn Douglas. We want to thank her for her continued longtime support of the Locker, and like other honorees, she will be entitled to a 25% Locker discount, up to $100, for the month. Lynn, with her friendly smile and fun personality, is well known at the club where she has been a member for 40 years. A Bostonian who never lost her accent, she was a gate agent with American Airlines for three decades. While married to Kiwi Albrecht who sadly passed 10 years ago, Lynn and Kiwi were fixtures at the sandbar where they hosted legendary parties. Boatmen must be in Lynn’s blood because she met and married Patrick Douglas 4 years ago. Lynn was giving her granddaughter a birthday party and had some balloons that needed to blown up. Luckily, along came Patrick who has here after delivering a boat from California. A few visits back and forth and the club is glad we have them both among our members.

History of the Kalakaua Cup The Kalakaua Cup is one of sailing’s oldest and most prestigious trophies. The Cup was first presented to King David Kalakaua after he won the Hawaiian Challenge Cup on July 4th, 1889 with the yacht Healani. After the races, the story is told that the King filled the Cup with champagne and passed it around to all the sailors. Continuing the tradition, the Kalakaua Cup Regatta will be sailed on July 4th offshore Kaneohe Bay.
