Kevlar 5019 construction with rudder and adjustable seat. As new condition . No paddle. Untitled, unregistered smallcraft not Paddle intended for motorization. AMF SUNFISH. 1969 Original owner boat used exclusively on fresh water lake in PA. Green stripe and splash 5031 guard. Well cared for and complete boat ready for more fun. Everyone loves a Sunfish. Quite similiar to a Sakonnet 23 with a counter stern, W Class 22, Hodgon 21, etc... all stunning boats with fabulous pedigree and sailing qualities. Traditional wood planking on steam bent frames. Very good overall condition with considerable structural work professionally 5052 performed on the boat and rig in recent years. She's very sound with a nice finish, yet she's been on the hard for Sail some time now and needs mostly minor refinishing, painting, varnishing and seaming. Lift kept. Very comfortable, fun boat with Mercruiser 260 hp 5.0 litre 5055 motor with Bravo 3 Duoprop stern drive. Well maintained machinery….a bit weathered on deck, but good overall Power condition. Trailer not included . MD 7092 BS. COMET ONE DESIGN #2910. Built in 1949 by Harry Horner of Beverly, NJ. Matched cedar planked hull with bright finish inside and out. Cream painted decks. Never glassed over.     July 2005 Official Publication of Alamitos Bay Yacht Club memorial day re g a tta 2005 Volume 78 • Number 7 by Chris Ericksen Photos by Rich Roberts ne hundred fifty one boats in seventeen divisions competed in the 2005 ABYC Memorial Day Regatta the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, May 28-29. O The turnout was the largest for this regatta since 1981 and featured not only a total of 51 Naples Sabots but also 35 catamarans, the largest turnout for multihulls in recent memory. ABYC’s Memorial Day Regatta has replaced what was the Hurricane Gulch Regatta for the local Hobie Cat sailors, and so there were not only Hobie Tigers sailing in a combined Formula 18 catamaran fleet but also some vener- able Hobie 16’s, which are experiencing quite a renaissance. While ABYC members Jeff Newsome and Tom DeLong made the jump into Sixteen’s for the weekend, the winner was a team with a familiar last name: Alter. Jeff and Cody Alter won in the eleven-boat class invented by the legendary Hobie Alter while Newsome took third. The eleven Formula 18’s also saw some familiar names as Dan DeLave and Eileen Haubl took second to Keith and Kurt Christiansen among the 11 cats in the division. Even the top three A-Cats had familiar ABYC names: Pete Melvin topped the fleet ahead of Pease Glaser in second and Jay Glaser in third. On Alamitos Bay, there were five divisions of Naples Sabots. Current ABYC Club Champions Freddie and Fred Stevens were one-two in the Senior Sabots, but Fred IV carded five firsts in six races while Fred III won on a tiebreaker with Jane MacNaboe.

    Abbotsford Sailing Club News 07/04/2021 Wrap-up of the 85th 12Ft skiff Australian Championships It was an extremely lively Easter weekend at the club with all the 12ft skiff crews visiting, the racing and the dinners and socialising after the racing. The whole event was a great success, we had enough breeze to complete all the races, and the last day even offered a bit more spectacle, after some lighter days earlier in the weekend. All results, photos and videos are on our regatta page. A thank you to all the crews who participated and the 1 2ft skiff association for choosing Abbotsford for this regatta. As the president of the club, I really would like to thank all the members, friends, family and past members who helped out at the club, including the bar and canteen and the support on the water. A special thank you to Robyn and Barrie who, together with Judy, ran all the starts and finishes from Scout. A major effort and much appreciated! We will have those snacks and drinks ready for next time you are able to officiate! Also a big thank you to Tom Biskupic for being the on-shore race manager and race recorder, and keeping the race results up to date on the website.     www.nature.com/scientificreports OPEN Convergent Evolution of Boats with Sails A. Bejan1*, L. Ferber2 & S. Lorente3 This article unveils the geometric characteristics of boats with sails of many sizes, covering the range 102–105 kg. Data from one hundred boat models are collected and tabulated. The data show distinct trends of convergent evolution across the entire range of sizes, namely: (i) the proportionality between beam and draft, (ii) the proportionality between overall boat length and beam, and (iii) the proportionality between mast height and overall boat length. The review shows that the geometric aspect ratios (i)–(iii) are predictable from the physics of evolution toward architectures that ofer greater fow access through the medium. Nature impresses us with images, changes and tendencies that repeat themselves innumerable times even though “similar observations” are not identical to each other. In science, we recognize each ubiquitous tendency as a distinct phenomenon. Over the centuries, our predecessors have summarized each distinct phenomenon with its own law of physics, which then serves as a ‘frst principle’ in the edifce of science. A principle is a ‘frst principle’ when it cannot be deduced from other frst principles. Tis aspect of organization in science is illustrated by the evolution of thermodynamics to its current state1,2. For example, 150 years ago the transformation of potential energy into kinetic energy and the conservation of “caloric” were fused into one statement—the frst law of thermodynamics—which now serves as a frst-principle in physics. It was the same with another distinct tendency in nature: everything fows (by itself) from high to low.
