Position title: Campaigner

Primary location: Victorian Greens state office, Melbourne CBD

Status: Fixed contract until 7 December 2018.

Remuneration: Contract rate of $2,570 a fortnight, with additional 10% superannuation

Primary hours: 3-5 days a week, flexible.

Reports to: Campaign Liaison

Position begins: August or September 2018, flexible.

ABOUT THE ROLE Are you a skilled campaigner with a track-record of managing complex logistics? Are you passionate about having an impact on the upcoming state election? We’re looking for an Campaigner to help us implement our campaign strategy and manage key campaign events leading up to the state election.

In this position, you will manage large-scale events including our state-wide campaign launch and election night party, as well as coordinating material print runs and other crucial projects with tight deadlines. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and a person who loves to take initiative. Excellent communications, organisational and interpersonal skills are essential.

ABOUT THE VICTORIAN GREENS We’re working towards the upcoming state and federal elections in 2018 and 2019. Since our record-breaking increases in representation at the 2014 state election, 2016 federal election and 2016 local government elections, we’ve also had success in by-elections like state Northcote and Geelong City Council.

The Greens are much more than an environmental party. While promoting meaningful and common sense solutions to ensure future generations of Australians have clean air, clean water and clean soil, The Greens are also working in many other areas to champion integrity, decency and fairness. As well as representing constituents, the Greens speak on behalf of those who wouldn’t otherwise get much of a say inside parliament: children, refugees, students, individuals and families living in poverty and, of course, our natural environment.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Manage logistics of key campaign events i​ ncluding our election night party, campaign launches, major trainings, media stunts and other key campaign moments. 2. Coordinate materials, direct mail and print runs. I​ ncluding managing the printing of campaign materials through systemised major print runs and ad hoc printing, building relationships with printers and suppliers and coordinating the delivery of direct mail. 3. Update, improve and optimise the campaign website​ creating content for people to take action, find key policy information, attend local events and find out about their candidates. 4. Write hard-hitting campaign content ​including emails, social media content and SMS to help mobilise supporters to volunteer and donate leading up to the election.​ 5. Develop and manage a volunteer leadership team: ​Build a central team of volunteers to support with all elements of the central campaign, including digital volunteers, photographers and copywriters.

SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Commitment to the Greens’ charter and policies and understanding of the Australian political landscape. 2. Strong rapport-building and relationship skills. You can quickly build and maintain relationships of trust in a local group and broader Greens community. 3. Strong persuasive communication skills. You’ll be able to inspire people to volunteer, and help craft strong written campaign messaging, for print, social media and other platforms. 4. Experience in fundraising, including developing major donor pitches, organising fundraising events and reporting-back to key stakeholders. 5. Experience in managing volunteers, including the ability to build and supervise teams, develop volunteer skills and bring out the best in each individual team member. Experience delivering training would also be highly valued. 6. Outstanding organisational skills, experience in managing people and logistics to tight deadlines, you thrive in a fast paced environment. 7. Experience applying best practice campaigning techniques: from campaigning infrastructure systems,to electoral and demographic data analysis and data-driven campaigning. APPLY
