Excellence in Theatre Education Award Executive Summary

Overview The Excellence in Theatre Education Award, presented by Carnegie Mellon University and the , was established in 2014 to recognize educators who have made a significant impact on their students.

This annual award recognizes a K-12 theatre educator in the U.S. who embodies the highest standards of the profession.

The recipient of the inaugural Excellence in Theatre Education Award will be announced on the June 7, 2015 telecast of the 69th Annual Tony Awards.

Nominations Nominations will be accepted online beginning January 12, 2015 via www.TonyAwards.com/educationaward.

Nominations will be screened and vetted by a panel of judges from , the and Carnegie Mellon University. The award finalists will be announced in the spring of 2015; each will receive an honorarium and will be invited to attend the Tony Awards at on June 7.

The nominee must be a current, living teacher at an accredited K-12 institution, or reputable theatre organization, located within the U.S. He or she must be a teacher whose position is dedicated to, or includes aspects of, theatre education.

Nominations will be accepted in three categories:  Self-nomination  Student nomination (for his or her current/past teacher)  General public nomination (nominate a teacher you know)
