That’s right, all ogres are destined to live lonely, miserable lives being chased by torch-wielding mobs who want to kill them. So the young Shrek set off, and eventually found a patch of swampland far away from the world that despised him. Many years pass, and the little ogre grows into a very big ogre, who has learned to love the solitude and privacy of his wonderfully stinky swamp (Big Bright Beautiful World.) Unfortunately, Shrek’s quiet little life is turned upside down when a pack of distraught Fairy Tale Creatures are dumped on his precious land. Pinocchio and his ragtag crew of pigs, witches and bears, lament their sorry fate, and explain that they’ve been banished from the Kingdom of Duloc by the evil Lord Farquaad for being freakishly different from everyone else (Story Of My Life.) Left with no choice, the grumpy ogre sets off left to right Jacob Ming-Trent to give that egotistical zealot a piece of his mind, and to Adam Riegler hopefully get his swamp back, exactly as it was.

  • La Cuestión De Honor En Las Dos Versiones De El Alcalde De Zalamea
La cuestión de honor en las dos versiones de El alcalde de Zalamea Elizabeth I. Trexler A thesis submitted to the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in the Department of Romance Languages (Spanish). Chapel Hill 2009 Approved by: Dr. Carmen Hsu (director) Dr. Frank Domínguez Dr. José Polo de Bernabé © 2009 Elizabeth I. Trexler ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii Abstract Elizabeth I. Trexler: La cuestión de honor en las dos versiones de El alcalde de Zalamea (Under the direction of Dr. Carmen Hsu) The following article explores how the Golden Age dramatists, Félix Lope de Vega Carpio and Pedro Calderón de la Barca defined the term “honor” in their versions of El alcalde de Zalamea and how that definition differentiates from the medieval concept of the term. Both authors arrive at a new definition of honor through the comedies’ protagonist Pedro Crespo and according to both authors, honor is no longer a quality that only the nobility can possess. The article concludes that it is through Pedro Crespo’s judicial duties as mayor that Lope derives his new definition, while it is through the evolution of Pedro Crespo’s character and the contrasts that Calderón establishes between Pedro Crespo and don Álvaro that Calderón arrives at his new definition of honor. iii Los casos de la honra son mejores, porque mueven con fuerza a toda gente; con ellos las acciones virtüosas, que la virtud es dondequiera amada, pues [que] vemos, si acaso un recitante hace un traidor, es tan odioso a todos que lo que va a comprar no se lo venden, y huye el vulgo de él cuando le encuentra; y si es leal, le prestan y convidan, y hasta los principales le honran y aman, le buscan, le regalan y le aclaman.

  • History and Background
History and Background Book by Lisa Kron, music by Jeanine Tesori Based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel SYNOPSIS Both refreshingly honest and wildly innovative, Fun Home is based on Vermont author Alison Bechdel’s acclaimed graphic memoir. As the show unfolds, meet Bechdel at three different life stages as she grows and grapples with her uniquely dysfunctional family, her sexuality, and her father’s secrets. ABOUT THE WRITERS LISA KRON was born and raised in Michigan. She is the daughter of Ann, a former community activist, and Walter, a German-born lawyer and Holocaust survivor. Kron spent much of her childhood feeling like an outsider because of her religion and sexuality. She attended Kalamazoo College before moving to New York in 1984, where she found success as both an actress and playwright. Many of Kron’s plays draw upon her childhood experiences. She earned early praise for her autobiographical plays 2.5 Minute Ride and 101 Humiliating Stories. In 1989, Kron co-founded the OBIE Award-winning theater company The Five Lesbian Brothers, a troupe that used humor to produce work from a feminist and lesbian perspective. Her play Well, which she both wrote and starred in, opened on Broadway in 2006. Kron was nominated for the Best Actress in a Play Tony Award for her work. JEANINE TESORI is the most honored female composer in musical theatre history. Upon receiving her degree in music from Barnard College, she worked as a musical theatre conductor before venturing into the art of composing in her 30s. She made her Broadway debut in 1995 when she composed the dance music for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and found her first major success with the off- Broadway musical Violet (Obie Award, Lucille Lortel Award), which was later produced on Broadway in 2014.
