New York Adventure Celebrating Broadway And New York Adventure Celebrating Broadway and the 72nd Annual Tony Awards ® Friday, June 8 – Monday, June 11 Trip includes: • 2 Broadway shows (Friday and Saturday evenings) • Choice of tickets to the 72nd Annual Tony Awards or access to overflow viewing party • 3 nights hotel accommodation at the Millennium Broadway, in the heart of the theatre district • Dinner in a private room at a theatre district restaurant with guests of honors on Friday • Private tour of Radio City Music Hall • Private tour of the New Amsterdam Theatre • Private tour of EverGreene Architectural Arts in Brooklyn • A private discussion and presentation with former captain of the Radio City Music Hall Singers and former captain of the Radio City Music Hall Corps de Ballet • Walking tour of the Times Square Theatre District with preservationist who helped lead its formation • Private performance and discussion by Broadway cast members in a rehearsal space • Free time to enjoy NYC as you please Optional Trip Add-Ons (will incur additional charges): • Additional show tickets • Hotel room upgrades • Broadway Show ticket upgrades Broadway Show Seating/Tickets • Seats included in the trip price should be within the first 10 rows of the Orchestra, directly next to Premium seats in the side section (generally beginning with the fourth seat from the aisle) • You can upgrade to Premium seats with a surcharge of ($95-$215), depending on the show. If you request Premium seats, you will be responsible for additional charges up to $215. Should the surcharge be above $215, you will be contacted by the trip coordinator to approve the charge before your tickets are purchased. • If you wish to purchase tickets to additional shows through our trip coordinator, the cost of each tickets will be $215. If you opted for Premium seating, the premium surcharge will be added to the ticket price. Program Cost • $2490 per person if attending Tony Awards ® viewing party (which includes a $500 donation to the Tennessee Theatre) o Single occupancy will incur a $550 surcharge o A deposit of $1250 per person is required upon registration o Balance will be due May 4 • $2985 per person if attending Tony Awards ® ceremony (which includes a $500 donation to the Tennessee Theatre) o Single occupancy will incur a $550 surcharge o A deposit of $1250 per person is required upon registration o Balance will be due May 4 • Cost per person is subject to change depending on the number of participants. This theatre is the current home of Disney’s ALADDIN and the theatre where THE LION KING was created. o As we look at the theatre’s splendor, the person in large part responsible for saving this theatre from demolition will describe the theatre’s history, secrets, and tell its ghost stories • 10:30am: A walking exploration of the lights, excitement, history and theatres of the Times Square Theatre District, led by the person in large part responsible for the NYC Landmark designation of 35 Broadway Theatres and for the zoning regulations which resulted in Times Square’s plethora of electric advertising signs • 11am: In a Broadway rehearsal studio, enjoy a performance and discussion with 3 current Broadway cast members.     AN EMPIRICAL STUDY OF THE DETERMINANTS OF THE RUN-TIMES OF BROADWAY MUSICALS A THESIS Presented to The Faculty of the Department of Economics and Business The Colorado College In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Arts By Katie Ferguson May 2011 AN EMPIRICAL STUDY OF THE DETERMINANTS OF THE RUN-TIMES OF BROADWAY MUSICALS Katie Ferguson May 2011 Mathematical Economics Abstract With an economic impact of $9.8 billion in the 2008-09 season alone, Broadway as an industry which should be economically studied. Currently there is a large gap in scholarly literature about Broadway with only three quantitative studies having been performed. This thesis aims to help fill this gap by building off of these three studies to determine which factors influence the success- measured as total days on Broadway from opening to closing night- of a Broadway musical. This thesis focuses specifically on musicals as they have been shown in all three empirical studies to have longer runs and a larger economic impact than Broadway plays. The econometric analysis finds many variables- such as a movie version of the musical being released, and winning the Tony for Best Musical- that are predictive of loner run times. Revivals are found to have substantially shorter run times than original runs and over time, musicals are lasting longer. Widely popular with the theater crowd, tourists and a great family-friendly stop in Times Square. • Junior's - They have everything (burger, deli, breakfast, dessert), but are likely the most famous NY Cheesecake in the world. 2 locations in Times Square - 45th & 49th. • Sardi’s (234 W 44th, 7th & 8th) - an iconic Broadway institution for years, great for pre- and post- theater meals, a local Broadway star hangout. The menu is kind of random. Maybe upscale continental? Open on Thanksgiving. • Joe Allen - similar to Sardi's in that it is a popular Broadway hangout (stars, producers), but a casual tavern. Orso is their Italian sister restaurant. • Meske (Meskerem) (468 W 47th, 10th Ave) - Ethiopian, inexpensive & interesting. If you've never eaten using spongy bread to pick up your food (no utensils), it's fun and a must-try.
