DAU Virtual Campus (Atlas Student Edition) Best Practices for Online Exams

Students are encouraged to use the following best practices to help reduce the opportunity for technological mishaps while taking online exams.

Preparation:

• Ensure that you’re using a supported Internet browser when accessing the DAU Virtual Campus. At this time, supported browsers include:

1. 8+

2.

3. Mozilla

Mobile devices should not be used when taking a test. Similarly, Windows 10 users should be certain to open Internet Explorer vs. the new Edge browser.

• Students should close all unrelated applications and websites before starting their test.

• Students should ensure their computer or laptop is connected to the Internet using a wired connection, when possible, to reduce chance of interference that may disrupt the login session.

While Taking an Exam:

• Students should not open any other applications or websites.

• Students must complete the exam in one sitting.

o If a student is not able to finish an exam, they may close out of the exam without choosing the “Submit” button. However, your current exam progress will not be saved.

o Upon accessing the Virtual Campus at a later time, students may resume their un-submitted testing attempt. However, the questions may populate to the screen in a different order and students will need to re-input any previous selections they may have made in a previous login session.

• Students should NOT use the Back, Forward, or Home buttons at the top of the while taking an exam.

• Students should not use the scroll wheel on their mouse (if applicable) as this may inadvertently change answer selections in multiple choice fields.

• After answering all questions, students are encouraged to review the entire test to ensure they are happy with all answer selections made prior to submitting the test for grading.
