Also for the first time, data from the e5isting viticultural land registers of the wine-producing states 6 7urgenland, Nieder8sterreich ,9ower Austria-, Steiermar: ,Styria- and Wien ,Vienna- 6 were included and analysed as secondary statistics. The organisation —Statistics Austria“ ,Austrian Central Statistical Office- obtained the data of the other states by conducting a written survey of the vineyard owners. Austria was determined to have a vineyard area of appro5imately 48,000 ha. This was about 8,400 ha less than in 1332 at the time of the last vineyard survey, which was conducted as a primary census. The area devoted to white wines had fallen since 1332 by around 11.1% to 3 ,140 haA there was a smaller decline in the area devoted to red wine, which fell by 1.3% to 12,300 ha. Among the reasons for the decrease in vineyard area were vine removal in accordance with EU vine pulling schemes and national reserve campaigns as well as losses due to frost damage. The 1333 amendment to the wine law created a new wine-growing region called —Weinland Austria“. The advantage lies in the fact that wines from Nieder8sterreich and 7urgenland, a large area even by European standards, can now be used for the production of 9andwein. The 2002 amendment also changed the wine region Steiermar:Bs name to —Steirerland“. There are currently 4 wine-growing regions and 13 wine-growing areas defined in Austria. The four wine-growing regions are defined as Weinland Csterreich ,including the states of Nieder8sterreich and 7urgenland-, Steirerland ,that is the state Steiermar:-, Wien, and 7ergland Csterreich ,including the states Ober8sterreich ,Upper Austria-, SalDburg, EFrnten ,Carinthia-, Tirol ,Tyrol-, and Vorarlberg-. Submitted for publication: September 2005 Accepted for publication: April 2006 Key words: Non-Saccharomyces, yeasts, vineyards, cellars, fermentation, wine. The contribution by the numerous grape-must-associated non-Saccharomyces yeasts to wine fermentation has been debated extensively. These yeasts, naturally present in all wine fermentations, are metabolically active and their metabolites can impact on wine quality. Although often seen as a source of microbial spoilage, there is substantial contrary evidence pointing to a positive contribution by these yeasts. The role of non-Saccharomyces yeasts in wine fermentation is therefore receiving increasing attention by wine microbiologists in Old and New World wine producing countries. Species that have been investigated for wine production thus far include those from the Candida, Kloeckera, Hanseniaspora, Zygosaccharomyces, Schizosaccharomyces, Torulaspora, Brettanomyces, Saccharomycodes, Pichia and Williopsis genera. In this review the use and role of non-Saccharomyces yeast in wine production is presented and research trends are discussed. März 2013 soll einer der Höhepunkte in der 90-jährigen Ver- einsgeschichte des SV EATON Ziersdorf werden. Es haben sich eine Reihe von Ehrengästen angesagt, allen voran unser Ehrenpräsident, Landeshauptmann Dr. Erwin Pröll. Er wird die offizielle Eröffnung der Sportanlage vornehmen. Die Segnung der Anlage wird von Pfarrer Mag. Andreas Kalita vorgenommen. Weitere Programm- punkte beim Festakt sind neben der Begrüßung durch Obmann Manfred Binder die Reden von Bgm. ASVÖ- NÖ-Präsident Johann Gartner sowie NÖFV-Präsident Ludwig Binder. Für die musikalische Umrahmung des Festaktes wird die Trachtenkapelle Ziersdorf und Umgebung sorgen. Das anschließende Eröffnungsspiel zwischen SV EATON Ziersdorf und FK Austria Wien, dem überlegenen Tabellenführer der Bundesliga, soll sowohl für die Zuschauer als auch für die Spieler des SV EATON Ziersdorf zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis werden. Bei der Eröffnungsfeier wird der SV EATON Ziersdorf eine Charity-Aktion zugunsten der Katastrophenhilfe österr. Frauen durchführen. Präsidentin dieses Vereines ist Elisabeth Pröll, die Gattin des Landeshauptmannes. Nach dem Eröffnungsspiel stehen die Spieler von FK Austria Wien für eine Autogrammstunde zur Verfügung. Stehplatzkarten sind an der Tageskasse zum Preis von € 12,-- (für Erwachsene) bzw. € 6,-- (für Jugendliche zw. 10 und 15 Jahren) erhältlich. Kinder bis 10 Jahren haben freien Eintritt. Geologisch befindet sich das Bacher Gebirge am südwestlichen Rand des steirischen Beckens und nahe einer tektonisch sehr aktiven Zone der Europäischen Alpen: das Periadri- atische Lineament. Etwa 10 km nordwestlich des Bacher Gebirges verlässt die Drau das Miozän-Pliozäne Klagenfurter Becken und verändert ihre Fliessrichtung von Ost nach Süd, der Lavanttal/Labot-Störung folgend. Am Nordwesteck der Antiform des Bacher Gebirges wird die Drau wieder in eine Ost-Richtung abgelenkt, anstatt dem tektonischen und geomorphologischen Lineament der Lavanttal-Störung weiter nach SE zu folgen. Ab diesem Knick fliesst die Drau parallel zur Längsachse durch den Dom nach Osten. Ge- omorphologische und sedimentologische Hinweise zeigen, dass das Flusstales der Drau im zentralen Bereich des Gebirges um 1 km nach Norden an seine heutige Position verlagert worden ist.
