19 Abstract This research aims to analyze the discourse of the popes of the Roman Catholic Church on communication technologies. It is an interpretative and analytical investigation of the encyclicals, apostolic exhortations, messages and motu proprio of Pius XI, Pius XII, John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I, John Paul II, Benedict XVI and Francisco. The problematization concentrates on knowing how technologies (technici, technicarum, technology) are conceptualized and interpreted in the documents written by the popes, and from which theoretical understanding, on the technologies of communication, are based these writings. Two main Ecumenical Assemblies in the history of the Church are considered as the framework of this study, being the Councils of Vatican I (1870) and Vatican II (1962), both decisions in the opening of Catholicism to think the means of communication. The quantitative corpus consists of papal documents of eight council potatoes, published between the period 1937-2017, which cite modern techniques, technical means and communication technologies, from a historical cut of 80 years. The analysis starts from the triangulation of the methods: Historical Research (Rüsen, 2007, Bonin, 2008), Documentary Analysis (Cellard, 2008 and Chaumier, 1982) and Content Analysis (Bardin, 1988 and Bauer, 2002). The results that this thesis revealed go beyond the inferences of the analyzes for theoretical and pragmatic purposes. The speeches of the popes are structured by maneuvers and strategies prevailing in Roman Catholicism. In this era, modern crusades are perpetuated, the technological crusades, promoting, in the context of media culture, a technological dogmatism. In order to advance, it is necessary to break with hierarchical mediations, dogmatic interventions and, above all, with the ritualistic instrumentation of ecclesial communication. On the other hand, the Church must more critically evaluate its communication, seeking new means to dialogue with society in a more transparent way, thus promoting a culture of dialogue and meeting people in their diversity. Understanding communication technologies as means at the service of life and the common good - in addition to a theological vision, becomes urgent in the context of a world of ideological wars and intolerances, attacks on human values and dignity. Keywords: communication technologies. speech of the popes. Catholic church. technological dogmatism. Papal documents. CONDEMNATION OF COMMUNISM IN PONTIFICAL MAGISTERIUM since Pius IX till Paul VI Petru CIOBANU Abstract: The present article, based on several magisterial documents, illus- trates the approach of Roman Pontiffs, beginning with Pius IX and ending with Paul VI, with regard to what used to be called „red plague”, i.e. communism. The article analyses one by one various encyclical letters, apostolic letters, speeches and radio messages in which Roman Pontiffs condemned socialist theories, either explicitly or implicitly. Keywords: Magisterium, Pope, communism, socialism, marxism, Christianity, encyclical letter, apostolic letter, collectivism, atheism, materialism. Introduction And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ (Rev 12,3-4.13.17). These words, written over 2.000 years ago, didn’t lose their value along time, since then and till now, reflecting the destiny of Christian Church and Christians – „those who guard the God words and have the Jesus tes- timony” – in the world, where appear so many „dragons” that have the aim to persecute Jesus Christ followers.

• Catholic Social Teaching Edited by Gerard V
Cambridge University Press 978-1-316-51360-6 — Catholic Social Teaching Edited by Gerard V. Bradley , E. Christian Brugger Frontmatter More Information catholic social teaching Catholic Social Teaching (CST) refers to the corpus of authoritative ecclesiastical teaching, usually in the form of papal encyclicals, on social matters, beginning with Pope Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum (1891) and running through Pope Francis. CST is not a social science and its texts are not pragmatic primers for social activists. It is a normative exercise of Church teaching, a kind of comprehensive applied – although far from systematic – social moral theology. This volume is a scholarly engagement with this 130-year-old documentary tradition. Its twenty-three essays aim to provide a constructive, historically sophisticated, critical exegesis of all the major (and some of the minor) documents of CST. The volume’s appeal is not limited to Catholics, or even just to those who embrace, or who are seriously interested in, Christianity. Its appeal is to any scholar interested in the history or content of modern CST. Gerard V. Bradley is Professor of Law at the University of Notre Dame. He has been a Visiting Professor of Politics at Princeton University, a Fellow of the Hoover Institution at Stanford, and is currently a Senior Fellow of the Witherspoon Institute. At Notre Dame he is Co-Editor-in-Chief of The American Journal of Jurisprudence and serves as Co-Director of the Natural Law Institute. E. Christian Brugger is Professor of Moral Theology at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, Florida. He is author of Capital Punishment and Roman Catholic Moral Tradition, 2nd ed.

* * * I. On the Nature of a Consecration Generally speaking, a consecration means a dedication of persons or things to the divine cult.

PALABRAS CLAVE Iglesia; Papado; Paz; Guerra Fría; Conflicto; Constructivismo ABSTRACT This academic work consists in a study about the configuration of a new concept of Peace, which will be able to reach stability and real coexistence to the world. For that reason, we will study the Catholic Church’s performance as an international actor in the scenario of the Cold War to see how this new vision of peace was created, while the world was ruled by uncertainty and tension. Following the constructivist theory, the efforts made by the representatives of the Catholic Church (Popes: Pius XII, John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I and John Paul II) will be analysed, to see how they created a new Peace’s conception that could overcome the ideas that had put to the world in a spiral of hatred and violence.

  • Catholic Doctrine and Teaching Regarding Mary
Catholic Doctrine and Teaching Regarding Mary Mariology is the study of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and of her role in Salvation History. Mary is viewed by Catholics as having a unique dignity among saints. Due to her maternal relationship to Christ and to the fact that she was conceived without original sin, Catholics believe Mary is entitled to Hyperdulia, that is an extraordinary level of veneration, as opposed to Dulia, a Greek term for the honor given to other saints. The field of Mariology includes dogmatic and theological studies of Mary, and also the study of the veneration of Mary in popular piety, including prayer, art, liturgy, hymns, shrines, and other devotions. The tradition of devotions associated with Catholic devotion to Mary are so extensive they require many more pages to expound. This page covers only the following topics as they relate to the Blessed Virgin Mary: 1) Dogmatic and Doctrinal teachings 2) Teachings and Writings of Saints 3) Pronouncements of Popes and Councils Dogmatic Teachings Concerning Mary There are four Marian teachings that have defined as De Fide Definita doctrines, or solemnly pronounced dogmas of the Faith. The Catholic Church teaches many truths about Mary, derived from the scriptures and traditions of the early Church, but only these four doctrines are considered dogmatic teaching. Dogma Magisterial Teaching / Authority Mary is Mother of Jesus who is truly God and Man in one person. — Mother of God Council of Ephesus (431) At the end of her earthly life, Mary was assumed into heavenly glory. — Assumption into Heaven Pope Pius XII (1950) Mary was preserved immaculate from Original Sin at her conception.

  • Appunti Per Una Storia Del Papato Scritti Da Un Internauta Per Internauti Del XXI Secolo
