The Letter Sin The Hebrew letter Sin שׂ makes an S sound like in

What’s with 2 Letters that Make the S Sound? a few ס Remember you learned the letter Samech lessons back? It, too, makes the S sound. Why? It’s like English, where both “C” and “S” can make an S sound.

How Do I Tell שׂ and שׁ Apart? Sin and Shin indeed look like the same letter (and you won’t find a separate listing for Sin in a Hebrew dictionary…). If you see a dot on the upper left of the letter, it’s Sin שׂ and if you see the dot on the upper right, it’s a Shin שׁ.
