MUAC AO AIRAC Brief Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre MUAC AO AIRAC 2107 Brief – 15-07-2021 Introduction The MUAC AO AIRAC Brief informs AOs and CFSPs about significant changes in routeings and RAD restrictions in the MUAC airspace. It does not supersede the official publication of AIP or RAD; it rather aims to provide complementary information regarding some changes which affect flight planning in the MUAC airspace. This Brief includes a summary of changes which become effective on AIRAC 15-07-2021. New FRA intermediate waypoint OTMEC Maastricht UAC creates the new FRA Intermediate waypoint OTMEC at position 520403N 0054946E in the Southeast of The Netherlands. Its main purpose is circumnavigation of the military areas EHTRA12Z and EHTRA12AZ. At the same time, five other FRA intermediate waypoints are withdrawn: RENDI, ARNEM, ELPAT, NAPRO, TEBRO. Since the new point OTMEC is located at an ideal position for all flows, the nearby waypoints which were previously used in the legacy ATS-Route structure before being converted to FRA points, have become redundant. Following segments are recommended via OTMEC: Southeast Bound Upstream towards OTMEC Downstream after OTMEC REDFA L620 TACHA DCT OTMEC OTMEC DCT COL LAMSO DCT EVELI DCT OTMEC OTMEC DCT PODIP TOPPA DCT OTMEC OTMEC DCT GMH TOPPA DCT AMGOD DCT OTMEC (when EHD09Z is reserved) OTMEC DCT NOMKA Westbound Upstream towards OTMEC Downstream after OTMEC MAPOX L604 BIGGE DCT OTMEC OTMEC DCT NOGRO KEMAD DCT DOMEG DCT OTMEC OTMEC DCT ABNED KUMER DCT OTMEC OTMEC DCT GALSO LARET DCT OTMEC OTMEC DCT NIGUG POVEL DCT OTMEC OTMEC DCT SOMVA HLZ DCT OTMEC HLZ L980 DLE DCT OTMEC (DEP EDDB) BATEL DCT OTMEC ROBEG DCT OTMEC RKN DCT OTMEC MUAC AO AIRAC Brief Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre MUAC AO AIRAC Brief Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre New FRA intermediate waypoint EMMUN Maastricht UAC creates the new FRA Intermediate waypoint EMMUN at position 524000N 0070200E in the East of The Netherlands. Its main purpose is circumnavigation of the MUAC Muenster sector which shall not be clipped by southwest / northeast bound flows between Scandinavia and Belgium. Currently, the FRA intermediate waypoint NARSO is used for this purpose. EMMUN will replace NARSO as FRA intermediate waypoint and offers more efficient routings since its location is slightly improved compared to NARSO. Following segments are recommended via EMMUN: Southwest Bound Upstream towards EMMUN Downstream after EMMUN GITER DCT EMMUN EMMUN DCT CIV GOBOT DCT EMMUN EMMUN DCT WOODY LOMPU DCT EMMUN EMMUN DCT NIK BAGOS DCT EMMUN EMMUN DCT SISGA GIMRU DCT EMMUN EMMUN DCT BUB WSN DCT EMMUN Northeast Bound Upstream towards EMMUN Downstream after EMMUN VICOT DCT EMMUN EMMUN DCT ROSOK EMMUN DCT AMISO EMMUN DCT RAMAR EMMUN DCT AMICH EMMUN DCT HAM EMMUN DCT WSN MUAC AO AIRAC Brief Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre MUAC AO AIRAC Brief Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre ARR EDDF, EDFE, EDFH, EDFZ via NOLRU With the support of DFS Langen ACC, MUAC can offer a shorter route for flights to EDDF, EDFE, EDFH and EDFZ which enter the airspace of Maastricht UAC via waypoint REDFA. During times when the military areas EHTRA12Z / EHTRA12AZ are not reserved in the eAUP / eUUP, flights can file REDFA DCT TACHA DCT NOLRU DCT DIXAT T149 LIPMI T911. This route options saves 9NM compared to the current route option via REDFA DCT TACHA DCT SOGPO DCT DIXAT T149 LIPMI T911 which remains available when mentioned military airspace is reserved. In order to create the new route option, two DCT segments will be published in RAD Appendix 4 (refer to YX50052: TACHA - NOLRU and YX50053: NOLRU – DIXAT). Furthermore, the waypoint NOLRU will be added to the list of connecting points for these aerodromes in RAD rule YX2026. MUAC AO AIRAC Brief Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre DEP EHAM / EHRD / EHLE via DOBAK With the support of LVNL Amsterdam ACC, the departure connecting routes for EHAM, EHRD and EHLE will be truncated. Currently, it is required to file GRONY M105 EEL N125 DOTOB. Instead of DOTOB, flights can now use DOBAK as the FRA departure connecting point. That implies that Free Route options can already be utilised at DOBAK which is 30NM earlier within the route. After DOBAK, flights shall proceed further eastbound towards Karlsruhe UAC but ideally not with a sharp left turn towards Copenhagen ACC. For flights towards Copenhagen ACC, the connecting points JUIST and NIKIL are recommended which also allow shorter routes instead of DOBAK if proceeding northeast bound. For the route segment database management, it is recommended to have the same segments connected from DOBAK as already in place for DOTOB. Below, a summary of the most important segments which should be available for these flights: From DOBAK to … Purpose ROSOK, AMISO, BERIM, NUSGU Connectivity with adjacent DFS FRA Cell EDUU North. BUMIL, NEBUN AMICH Intermediate point to circumnavigate ED-D19 and ED-R10. RAMAR ARR EDOP HAM ARR EDBH, EDBN, ETNL MUAC AO AIRAC Brief Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre ARR Brussels FIR / Lille Group via ALFEN With the support of LVNL Amsterdam ACC, the arrival connecting route to aerodromes within the Brussels FIR and Lille Group via ALFEN is slightly modified. Currently, it is required that routes are planned via waypoint BASNO before ALFEN. This requirement is skipped for flights filing above FL245 via MUAC airspace. It will become possible to directly plan from following MUAC FRA entry points on the boundary United Kingdom / The Netherlands to ALFEN. In order to achieve this, ALFEN receives the FRA Relevance (IA). At the same time, the FRA relevance of BASNO is withdrawn. Recommended segments via ALFEN are: Upstream before AFLEN Downstream after ALFEN LONAM DCT ALFEN ALFEN DCT ORCAV Z310 … TOPPA DCT ALFEN TOPPA DCT AMGOD DCT ALFEN (when EHD09Z is reserved) LAMSO DCT ALFEN MUAC AO AIRAC Brief Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre Flow split REDFA / SOMVA In order to better distribute flows between the Clacton sectors of NATS and Maastricht UAC, a new requirement is added to RAD rule YX2191. It is no longer possible to plan a route via REDFA followed by a left turn which brings the route into the Jever sector of Maastricht UAC. Flights that intend to plan via the Jever sector shall file via MUAC FRA entry point MAVAS instead of REDFA. The change influences the route distance only marginally: REDFA and SOMVA are closely located nearby and due to the variety of FRA route options, there are almost equal possibilities via both of these waypoints. However, the benefit is quite significant for ATC as flows will plan via the correct waypoints and do not crossover inside the airspace of Maastricht UAC. NATS can already split converging flows earlier, which reduces complexity for ATCOs and hence has effects on capacity. Update FRA relevance of waypoint RIMET The AIRAC AMDT 07/21 for AIP Germany indicates a change of the FRA relevance for waypoint RIMET. Instead of (XA) MUAC FRA, RIMET will be published as (A) MUAC FRA. This change just intends to solve an incorrect publication; it shall not change anything for flight planning. Hence, no action is expected by AOs and CFSPs regarding this.
