Pop stars Lady Gaga and Katy Perry have been dominating music headlines by playing up their upcoming album releases, which have the two singers facing off in the music charts. Comparisons between these two women have been made since they each first rose to stardom.

We decided to take a closer look at 10 occasions that stuck out in our minds in which these ladies have faced off against one another.

Roar of the Applause Early indications point to Katy Perry's single, "Roar" outselling Lady GaGa's "Applause" in the first week of the ladies going head to head in the charts. Whether you're a diehard Katy Cat, passionate Little Monster or an equal opportunity listener, when pop stars duke it out, everyone wins.

Bicoastal Babes Katy Perry's love of the "Golden Coast" is never more apparent than when she's warbling her hit single, "," conjuring images of carefree, candy-coated living near the beach. On the other side of the country, Lady GaGa's devotion to her hometown of New York City is clear in the gritty, fashion-forward images of the city she presents in videos like "Marry the Night" and "Edge of Glory."

Digestible Dresses Early in their careers, these ladies established themselves by their over-the-top fashion choices. Lady GaGa delivered a protein-packed punch in a meat dress that had tongues wagging, and possibly some mouths drooling. Not to be outdone, Katy showed off a cornucopia of fruits in a carefully constructed fruit cocktail of a dress that perfectly showcased her melons.

Muppet Madness The costume Katy Perry wore on was deemed too scandalous for TV and the segment never aired on PBS. As for Lady GaGa, she too caused an uproar with a Muppet-related outit. The donned a coat made entirely of Kermit the frog heads for an interview with a German TV show.

Pitch-Perfect Personalities Both Katy and GaGa have featured alter egos in their music videos as well as during concert performances. GaGa's persona of Jo Calderone is a self-professed Italian-American from New Jersey and can be seen doing his thing in her video for "Yoü and I." Katy Perry's 13-year-old alter ego, Beth Terry, first appeared in her video for "Last Friday Night" and the role was famously reprised by Katy's sister on-stage at a concert to greet fans during the show.

Stars on Both Katy Perry and Lady GaGa have enjoyed guest spots on The Simpsons. While GaGa enjoyed a cartoon portrayal complete with costume changes, Katy got to show off her assets in all of their 3-D glory.

Vogue Vixens For her 2013 Vogue cover photo shoot, Katy Perry went on a self-imposed cleanse with glowing results. Lady GaGa graced the cover of the prestigious September issue in 2012, looking as comfortable in haute couture as she does in one of her many outlandish concert ensembles.

Nearly Nude Lady GaGa recently went completely nude for a spread for V magazine with just some strategically-placed body parts concealing her remaining lady bits. As for Katy, she kept on her bottoms but left little to the imagination in her photoshoot for Esquire.

Documentary Drama The two songstresses gave their fans an inside peek into their private lives with a documentary. Lady GaGa's black and white HBO showed a more vulnerable side of the pop sensation during her Monster Ball tour. Katy Perry: Part of Me gave an inside look into the pop star's wildly successful as well as the off-stage turmoil she faced during her brief marriage to Russell .

Katy Cats versus Little Monsters Devoted followers of Lady GaGa are affectionately referred by the singer as her "Little Monsters," who raise up their "paws" to show their loyalty. Playful Katy Perry's army of adoring fans are referred to as Katy Kats.
