SECTION 06100

ROUGH

A. , GENERAL

1. Standards: Comply with DOC PS 20, American Lumber Standard and with applicable grading rules of inspection agencies certified by ALSC’s Board of Review. a. Provide dressed lumber, S4S with 19 percent maximum moisture content. b. Provide factory marked grade stamp identifying grading agency, grade, species, moisture content, and mill.

B. PRESERVATIVE-TREATED MATERIALS

1. Standard: Comply with applicable requirements of AWPA C2 (lumber) and AWPA C9 (). Mark each treated item with the Quality Mark Requirements of an inspection agency approved by ALSC’s Board of Review. a. Do not use chemicals containing chromium or arsenic. 2. Aboveground Lumber: Pressure treat with waterborne preservative to a minimum retention of 0.25 lf/cu. ft. a. cants, nailers, curbs, equipment support bases, blocking, and similar members in connection with roofing. b. Wood sills, sleepers, blocking , furring, and similar concealed members in contact with masonry or . c. Wood members less than 18 inches above grade. d. Wood plates installed over concrete slabs directly in contact with earth. 3. Contact with Ground or Fresh Water: Pressure treated with waterborne preservatives to a minimum retention of 0.40 lb/cu. ft.

C. FIRE-RETARDANT – TREATED MATERIALS

1. Standard: Comply with applicable requirements of AWPA C20 (lumber) and AWPA C27 (plywood). Identify fire-retardant - treated wood with appropriate classification marking of UL; U.S. Testing; Timber Products Inspection, Inc.; or another testing and inspection agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction.

D. PERFORMANCE-RATED STRUCTURAL – USE PANELS

1. Wall Sheathing: APA-rated structural I sheathing. a. Exposure Durability Classification: Exposure 1. b. Span Rating: 12/0, 16/0, 20/0 or Wall-16 for stud spacing of 16 inches or less.

E. STRUCTURAL-USE PANELS FOR BACKING

1. Plywood Backing Panels: For mounting electrical or telephone equipment, provide fire-retardant- treated plywood panels with grade, C-D Plugged Exposure 1, in minimum thickness of 15/32 inch.

FINISH CARPENTRY

A. QUALITY CRITERIA

1. The "Quality Standards" of the Architectural Woodwork Institute shall apply and by reference are hereby made apart of this specification. Any reference to Premium, Custom, or Economy in this specification shall be as defined in "Architectural Woodwork Quality Standards and Guide Speci- fication," latest edition.

B. MATERIALS

1. Laminates (Wilson Arts)

a. No. 107 general purpose, 0.050 inch thick, satin finish, glossometer reading: MD 20 CD 12.

b. , as recommended by plastic laminate manufacturer for intended use.

2. Resin Wood ()

a. Wood particles bonded by resins ANSI A208.1-1987, Grade 1-M-2 or 3.

3. Lumber

a. Material Specifications for Oak Lumber 1) , mixed oak NHLA select car stock. Select dimension. Minimal wane. 2) Material to be cut and true. 3) Material to be within ¼ inch plus or minus specified lengths and end cuts to be square to surfaces. 4) Surfaced lumber to be no more than ½ inch scant of nominal full dimensions. 5) Material to be inspected by a NHLA inspector and a certificate of inspection to be provided.

b. Certification and Packing List for Oak Lumber 1) Certification is required that material being furnished has been inspected accord- ing to the rules and regulations of the National Inspector and complies with the requirements of this purchase order. Certification shall be signed and dated by the National Inspector. This certification must be forwarded with complete or partial shipments. Material will be rejected if required certification is not re- ceived. 2) Certification shall be attached to the packing list. 3) Certification shall include: (a) This purchase order number. (b) Item number. (c) Material name, amount inspected and specifications. 4) Packing list to include: (a) This purchase order number. (b) Item number. (c) Description of item. (d) Number of Pieces. (e) Amount in Board Feet.
