Artisan Bake Shop is a boutique, from-scratch in Rochester Massachusetts delivering throughout Southeastern Massachusetts, all of Cape Cod, and south to Newport & Tiverton, RI.

Artisan Bake Shop grew from the idea that ca cakes should be GORGEOUS TO LOOK AT & most importantly absolutely delicious. Always an advocate for community sustainability: local farms and families provide us with in-season produce, eggs, & fruit that we use in our . Sweets are our passion, and we take our weddings very seriously, providing our and grooms with intricately decorated cakes, cupcakes and desserts, providing professional service from the first contact through to delivery. {Meet Us} Proprietor & Meredith Ciaburri-Rousseau, graduated as valedictorian of her class at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park NY with a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts and then from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI with a Bachelor’s degree in Foodservice Management. Since 2006, she has been serving the South Coast, South Shore, Cape Cod, as well as Tiverton, Newport and Bristol, RI with baked treats for all events. Meredith has a passion for style, taste, and service and loves to learn! She frequently takes classes to expand her knowledge and repertoire and has studied with famed pastry chefs including Betty VanNortstand, Buddy Valastro, and Lauren Kitchens.

The Rest of the Team: Senior Lead Artist, Jody Church, started her career as a professional artist with favorite mediums including watercolor and clay. Sugar, was a natural progression when Jody joined the team in 2010. Jody loves to paint with a realists’ eye! Assistant Pastry Chef and Artist: Tabitha Schneider started with us back in 2009 as a Farmer’s Market clerk, but today you can find her as a Lead Sugar Artist in the Studio. Tabitha has a background in fine art, and she loves anything artsy! Bob & Bev: we all love them! You’ll find him out in the field carefully arranging cupcakes our custom made stands, or delicately driving to P-Town to setup a towering wedding cake! Bev is Meredith’s mom, so if you wonder where she got her love of baking it’s from her! Our team also includes a few interns from various prestigious Culinary Institutions and trusty dishwashers (aka: ultimate cleaning machines!)!

{The Process} Consultations, Deposits, Final Details Complimentary consultations are reserved for weddings with a serving count for desserts or cake or cupcakes for min. 50 guests. There is a nominal $30.00 charge for wedding consultations where the count for cake/cupcakes/desserts is fewer than 50 guests. Additional consultation time, beyond the time listed about is available and is charged at $50.00/60 minute appointment.

First Contact: This wedding package includes frequently asked questions, price ranges and lots of other information. If you send us specific pictures, I may be able to send pricing, but recommend coming in for an appointment - or if you’ll be planning from out-of-town we can arrange via Skype or phone- so we can talk about your vision, and what is important to you about wedding day- and most importantly your cake! BEFORE BOOKING YOUR APPOINTMENT: Keep in mind, you'll want to wait until you have large decor details planned: -a solid idea and associated color palette for bouquets/boutonnieres -Girls’ colors finalized -Guys’ tux colors finalized -a solid idea/or a few choices nailed down for linen/runner choices -a good idea of centerpieces and their associated color palette (for example: you may be choosing between just flowers or lanterns with flowers) -details of your overall style: invitations, guest book, etc

Complimentary Design & Tasting Appointment: Make an appointment! Consultations are always complimentary! In-person, or phone- we’ll talk about design, options, different coverings- like fondant vs. , and answer all of your questions. Appointments are for our brides and grooms along with their family and friends (up to 4 people total), we recommend that you come in to see us as a couple, and unfortunately will not meet with just your mom, sister or without the couple (or one person from the couple!).

Design Collaboration, Consultation & Tasting: We’ll start by talking about what is most important regarding design, colors, sizes, shapes, etc. Then, the sketch process begins: sometimes it’s the first, sometimes the 10th. We chat more about pricing, and elements of design. Then, you’ll go into a full tasting with 4-6 types of cake and 8-10 different fillings along with our signature Buttercream! At the end of your appointment, I’ll send you home with a complete packet of sketches, prices, and details along with deposits and booking information. Additional consultation time, beyond the time listed about is available and is charged at $50.00/60 minute appointment.

Are we a good fit? If you enjoyed the samples and are excited about the possibility of working together, reserve your date by sending a deposit with your Book the Date Sheet & Contract within the specified time period.

As Your Wedding Day Comes Closer: 20 days prior to the big day the number of guests will be finalized- along with any little details- fresh flowers, cake plates/stands, all the little details. 10 days prior the final payment is due.

{ Flavors} Our cake flavors and fillings can easily be translated into cupcakes- we’ll talk more about the options and pairings in your consultation!

{Dessert Bars} From mini donuts and pies, to an array of classic American treats, to French macaron, dessert shots, and mini - WE LOVE a great . Dessert tables can accompany a small tiered cake or can replace a traditional wedding cake all together! Contact us for our current and seasonal menu! Dessert bars are a spend, not a save. They tend to be the most expensive option.

{Special Diets} Vegan, Dairy-Free, Egg-Free, Gluten-Free or a combination: we’d be happy to help you! Pricing varies for special dietary cakes, and as each order is custom tailored to your needs, pricing will be greater than our standard prices. All of our recipes are scratch-made, but you’ll want to make us aware of all and any allergies that you have.

If you have guests with special dietary restrictions, we offer a complimentary up to 6 cupcakes in different special dietary needs for your guests. One cupcake per person, please provide a list of guests+their restrictions+table number at least 20 days prior to your weddings date. We are fairly handy at accommodating different restrictions, we cannot be responsible for accommodating all allergies/restrictions.

{Dummy Cakes} Unfortunately, we do not make ‘dummy cakes’ or cakes that are ‘fake’ on the inside. Why? There isn’t any cost/savings associated with them. I still have to decorate the ‘fake cake’ on the outside and then make kitchen cakes/sheet cakes to serve your guests. 1) the Styrofoam is expensice, and 2) the cost of a wedding cake is in the decoration.

{Your Budget} I’m a bride on a budget. Do you have any suggestions? Be honest with us if you are on a budget- UP FRONT, literally when you walk in the door! And we’ll be honest with you! If you choose a simple design, classic flavors, and don’t get too crazy with design: you can have a delicious and beautiful cake! The truth is that you just have to be flexible! Buying a cake is like buying a car: the more ‘stuff’ you add to it, the higher the cost will be!

You’ll want to budget a min. of $3.95 per person, this is the MINIMUM PRICE PER PERSON THAT WE CAN ACCOMMODATE (for example: this would be for a single tiered buttercream frosted cake for ceremonial cutting purposes for the couple (classic flavors) + your own topper for décor and then one (1) classic flavored cupcakes for each guest with delivery within 10 miles of our bake shop

{Ask & Learn} What sets you apart? We are from-scratch, full-service professional bakery, with an eye for style, a discerning palette, and a dedication to great service. Our staff is made up of skilled professionals from design to delivery. Meredith, our pastry chef, along with Jody & Tabitha, can create any design from realist paintings to fanciful floral works of art, and Bob and Beverly have seven years of experience helping us to deliver, style and setup our sweets. Most importantly this is your day and we are here to design a cake for you!

Do I cut my top tier or cupcake stand ‘topper’ cake or save it for my anniversary? You can absolutely save your top tier for your anniversary (we’ll provide a box with freezing and most importantly thawing & serving instructions). Saving your top tier is ‘good luck’ according to old wives tales! If you’re not a frozen cake person, or if you’re planning from out-of-town, you can also choose the Anniversary Gift Certificate option. We’ll pop a Gift Certificate in your for a 6” cake in any flavor of your choice – call us a week before you’d like to celebrate your first anniversary to order- remind us of your colors scheme and we’ll bake a fresh cake with the same color scheme as your wedding cake! And there’s no extra charge for whichever you’d like to choose!

On my wedding day who styles the table, dessert bar or cupcake display? Styling is always included in our pricing. All of our cakes, dessert tables, and cupcakes are always delivered by my team of skilled professionals who will not only ensure that your cake is delivered in a timely manner, but also displayed and styled to fit your day. We have a huge closet of displays in variety of classic, vintage, , and distressed metal options (as well as props- such as hand-crocheted lace and burlap runners) as rentals. Rentals can be handled in a variety of ways to fit your budget and décor. Large solid maple cake pedestals can accommodate up to a four-tiered cake and are available in classic white as well as rustic stained wood. plate tea trays, wood slice logs, mercury glass pedestals, white classic cupcake tiers (custom made for our Bake Shop in solid wood), antique Jadeite and china stands and more are available and will be discussed in depth in your consultation.

How far ahead should I make my wedding cake appointment? We suggest you call to book your appointment a 1-3 weeks before you would like to come in, & plan about 5-13 months before your occasion. During our busy season: April-October appointments are available Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday. We do not book Wedding Consultations on any Friday. Weekend and evening appointments book the fastest. We require a min. 3 months advance notice, but availability is based on our calendar.

Do you freeze your cakes? Goodness, NO! All of our cakes, fillings and FABULOUS vanilla buttercream are scratch-made the evening a day before your wedding, this gives the cakes sufficient time to cool before being torted in a European fashion, then filled, crumb coated, frosted, stacked and finally decorated. We have a little trick, that the French use, which keeps our cakes extra-moist—we add a fabulously delicious vanilla bean infused syrup to our cakes! You can even ask us to add a bit of Kahlua, Rum, or Sambucca for a little kick!

What flavors do you offer? Our buttercream frosting is out-of-this-world delicious, but our moist cakes cannot be beat. From devilish chocolate (our favorite) to tangy lemon, even crazy fun-fetti– no matter what they are scratch-made. Filling flavors range from Bailey’s Irish Cream to fresh raspberries & even a sea salt Peanut Butter filling. A favorite is our classic Red Velvet with cream cheese filling. Do you offer rentals like cupcake towers and cake pedestals/plateaus? Absolutely! We offer 7 different size solid wood cupcake tiers, along with a variety of cake pedestals (china, hobnail, mercury glass, pie crust), wine crates, mirrors and more non-traditional cupcake displays. There are two different ways to go about renting: a) security deposit and you bring the rental back to us within 3 days after your wedding b) rental fee + security deposit and we pick the rentals up the day after your wedding. If you decide to purchase your own stands or displays, they must be delivered to our Bake Shop at least 10 days prior to your wedding. If not, we cannot guarantee that our cupcakes, cakes or desserts will fit on the stands upon delivery.

Your cakes are priced per slice (also called: per serving or per guest). What does that mean? This means that each cake is priced per your guest count. We always recommend having one piece/one slice of cake per person or at least one cupcake person. Think about how awkward it would be if you didn’t have enough for everyone! Our cakes are a European torte style, meaning that in each piece there are four layers of cake and three layers of filling, see the photo at right. Our cakes are very tall and measure 5” to 5 ¾” tall and each piece that we figure on is very generous – 1” wide and 3” deep. If we tell you your cake will serve 100 – we’ve figured in a few extra for waste, different styles of cutting, etc. Cupcakes: to learn more about the sizes

Can I have more than one flavor of cupcakes or cake? Absolutely! We offer two different tiers of pricing when it comes to cakes and cupcakes. Classic flavors: which are included in any pricing. You can mix and match these flavors --we generally recommend a maximum of 3 different flavors or cupcakes and up to two different cake flavors for cake- otherwise you’ll start to need extra pieces of cake or extra cupcakes beyond your final guest count to make up for the people that have two! If you choose from Gourmet Flavors, there is an additional charge: Gourmet Cake Flavors add $.70/cupcake or slice, Gourmet Cake Fillings add $.70/cupcake or slice, Gourmet Frosting (cupcakes, only) add $.70/cupcake or slice.

{ Presentations } Buttercream from $5.75/serving

Delicious, smooth, creamy, & timeless! Buttercream can be adorned with ribbons, seashells, fresh flowers or sugar flowers. Buttercream can be casual or superbly elegant! Our buttercream is creamy to the palette & smooth to the eye. Buttercream is best for beach weddings & humidity as it does not sag or bubble. Sometimes a ‘kitchen cake’ is needed or can be utilized to cut down on the cost of your cake, these are undecorated round Buttercream cakes that serve additional guests, & are priced from $1.99/serving. This option will be discussed further in your tasting. Fondant from $7.40/serving

Fondant offers a flawless finish reminiscent of a grand masterpiece. It can be molded into a many shapes and is wonderful for climate controlled venues.Fondant offers ruching & pleats, draping & bold stripes as well as whimsical polka dots! Traditionally, fondant offers a more refined upscale appearance. Quilting patterns can be added and scrolling designs can be painted with edible gold. Sometimes a ‘kitchen cake’ is needed or can be utilized to cut down on the cost of your cake, these are undecorated round Buttercream cakes that serve additional guests, these are priced at $1.99/serving. Wedding Pies In 2007, we created our first Pie Wedding! It was featured in Boston Magazine’s Real Weddings (check it out at Eastover Farm), and instantly, pies became a hit—more specifically our hand-made all-butter crust pies AND our homemade donuts! We make individual pies, whole pies, and even favor pies baked into Mason Jars! All are lovingly crafted the old fashioned way just like our cakes. { Delivery & Styling} We provide professional set-up, styling & delivery throughout Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, South Shore, South Coast, Boston, & Eastern Rhode Island including Newport, Bristol & Providence. Delivery is priced based on the location of your wedding and the size of your cake (4-5 tiered cakes require 2 professionals to delivery), you can expect to figure a min. charge of $85 charge for deliveries and then increasing based on the distance from the shop. The further the distance, the higher the cost.

{ Cake Pedestals, Displays, Rentals} Our selection of cake plates, display trays, pedestals, and rental items for dessert bars is unbeatable! Rentals start at $10 and need to be returned to us within 4 days after your wedding day. All rentals require a security deposit, which is a separate check equal to the cost of the items that insures that you will return it to us.

{ Wedding Cake Toppers} Most of our clients purchase monogram toppers on Etsy.com or BHLDN.com or on lots of other websites. We can create sugar flowers or whimsical animals, if you’d like! We’ll talk more about this during the consultation process!

{ How to Book with Us} Wedding cake consultations booked by appointment only & include a complimentary tasting. Please call to schedule you appointment.
