An Enchanted Evening!

This year’s Sweethearts Dance theme—Enchanted Fairy Garden— said it all! Charm, enchantment, sweetness, and delight were the perfect adjectives to describe this magical night of fun, laughter, and special memories for young children and their sweethearts. The Sweet- hearts Dance was sponsored by Temple Emanu-El and Community Day School, and chaired by creative and visionary leaders Stacey Bloom, Hilary Yunis, Amy Meese, and Yazzie Schulz. Sweethearts also enjoyed face-painting, glitter hairspray, a fairy wand craft, and games including a jellybean guessing jar and a “How Well Do You Know Your Sweetheart?” quiz. The Sweethearts Dance is a much-loved biannual event at Temple Emanu-El, and the wonderful suc- cess of this year’s event means that we are all eagerly awaiting the next one! Early Learning

Our school year has wrapped up at Susan Schwaid Early Learning Cen- ter and we are so excited to start our summer session. Our summer program includes weekly themes, crafts, science, water days, cooking and we are trying a new program called “Stretch-n-Grow”. In addi- tion to exercising with the children the teachers of Stretch-n-Grow will talk with the children about estab- lishing healthy habits that will last them a lifetime. In summer science students will be participating in a variety of hands on science activities includ- Rabbi Shefrin and kids ing measuring the volume of their hand, layering liquids to discover density, making different kinds of gases from household materials, using tuning forks to learn about sound, making balloon rockets, dis- covering the world of the small us- ing digital microscopes, and much more! All while having a science word or words of the day to help them to increase their vocabulary and beginning letter sound recogni- tion. If you haven’t already seen our entertaining You Tube video, which our amazing parent volunteer, Mara Daniels worked so hard on, please take a moment to watch it. In this video you will see a few snippets of what the children get to do on a weekly basis, including our enrich- ments of Hebrew with Ms. Sabrina, yoga, gymnastics, music and move- ment, Spanish, computers, Shabbat, and Six Pointed Stars. Enrollment is open for the Fall. If you need any additional information, please give us a call at (941)377-8074.
