What is “Scotch whisky” and how is it different than “whisky”? -The answer is much more simple than you would expect, Scotch whisky is just whisky that is from Scotland. So all Scotches are whiskies, but not all whiskies are Scotch.
By Scottish law, all must be
• Must be aged in oak barrels for at 3 years and one day
• Any age statement on the bottle must reflect the age of the youngest whisky used to produce that product
What is a blended Scotch whisky? Johnnie Walker is this type.
It is a blend of at least 1 single grain Scotch whisky and 1 single malt Scotch whisky, but will usually contain many more.

There are 5 different types of Scotch whisky- remember, Johnnie Walker is a blended Scotch whisky.
3 JOHNNIE WALKER- our whiskies have heritage
In 1820, a young John Walker sold the family farm and opened a grocer’s shop in Kilmarnock, Scotland.
John began to trade in teas and spices from the New World- rich, exciting flavors that required craft and skill to harness and balance. He was good at it and in time began to apply his newly acquired skills to the creation of whisky blends.
A now-famous lineage of Master Blenders was born and John’s blends soon became known for their supreme quality and consistency- his journey was the start of the quest for the flavor the company maintains to this day. His carefully balanced whiskies stood in stark contrast to the raw uneven products consumers were used to and their reputation began to grow.
John started to create exclusive blends for his favored customers and directors of the business- treasured whiskies that were only ever shared with a select few. A history of “private blends” began.
Pioneering skills had been honed, big flavor profiles established and the ‘Walker’ name began to be associated with whisky excellence.

5 JOHNNIE WALKER- red label
Johnnie Walker Red Label is the world’s best selling whisky. Red label is a powerful combination of spicy, smoky malts and lingering, lighter grains. Its robust qualities make it a wonderful base for cocktails.
-Blend of 30 different, young, intense single malts and grain whiskies -By 1920, Johnnie Walker Red Label was the first global brand of any kind, available in more than 120 different countries
*Rich, fresh and vibrant aroma, with hints of clove and butterscotch. On the palate, it starts off sweet, soft and spicy, but develops a robust, smoky character and has a warm finish. This is the only blend that was originally created for mixing.
Will be sampled- with soda, with ginger ale, or neat (no ice), or on the rocks (with ice)

6 JOHNNIE WALKER- black label
A luxury blend from a luxury brand, Johnnie Walker Black Label has become the benchmark by which all other blended Scotch whiskies are measured
-All 40+ whiskies that are blended into Black Label are aged in oak casks for a minimum of 12 years giving it a wide spectrum of taste and character -Black Label boasts superior depth and complexity, with a much smokier and fuller flavor than other deluxe blends
*Black Label has a wonderful combination of dry smokiness, with rich malt and peat overtones balanced by hints of cedar and fruit with trademark dark chocolate and vanilla sweetness The classic way to enjoy this is over ice or with a splash of water which helps to release its different aromas

Johnnie Walker Double Black is a bold and complex whisky- the trademark smoky characteristic of Black Label has been amplified to deliver an additional rich intensity of flavor
-Double Black is blended from an exceptional mix of single malts, which often include casks from smaller, remote distilleries
-In April. 2013, Double Black officially joined the U.S. lineup as a permanent offering

THE STORY In the early 90’s Jim Beveridge, the master dis ller, spent me in Louisville, Kentucky at the S tzel-Weller dis llery. He took away a deep apprecia on of the flavor possibili es of grain whiskies made from wheat, barley, and corn. THE IDEA This is a whisky made in the tradi onal Scotch process but with a sweeter flavor style reflec ng his me in Kentucky. A lighter, so er Scotch, more elegant, balanced and finely layered.
This is the first Scotch experiment where we are proudly leading with 3 grain dis lleries (Port Dundas, Cameron bridge & North Bri sh) from three cereals – wheat, barley and corn. They are blended with two iconic Speyside Malts (Cardhu & Mortlach), all matured in American oak casks for 10 years for a mellow, so character.
