1 Foreword
In the Forgotten Realms campaign setting for Dungeons & Dragons, adventures in the mortal realms typically take place on a planet called Toril. The planet Toril itself is part of a solar system known as Realmspace, which is itself a part of the larger living universe in the Material Plane. The realms of Toril have a long, rich history during which many beings of great power have influenced the lives and fates of all who have lived and died upon the world. These gods and primordials are the ultimate movers and shakers behind the scenes of all the conflicts that take place, as well as the source of extraordinary events that have reshaped the very worlds of Realmspace.
This work offers a primer on the status quo of the gods and primordials in Realmspace, as well as explanations of their nature that can place into context how these beings interact with mortals and immortals alike in the Forgotten Realms. This is a living document, created from a combination of researched canon and non-canon gap fillers, that will be updated as more research is completed and new lore becomes available.
