  • The Shackled City Adventure Path (5Th Edition)
The Shackled City Adventure Path (5th Edition) Conversion Guide Introduction: Originally published in Dungeon® Magazine, the Shackled City Adventure Path is a series of adventures for 3rd Edition DUNGEONS & DRAGONS®. It was subsequently updated to 3rd Edition (v.3.5), bundled, and sold in hardcover. I picked it up in 2007 and ran the entire campaign for a superb team of players over seven years. When everything was said-and-done, the consensus was that no campaign in our combined 100+ year D&D gaming careers came close to the detail, intrigue, and immersion offered by this adventure path. My new 5th Edition group really wanted to give the campaign a try, so I decided to convert the adventure path. • Playtest: Wizard
Playtest: Wizard Illustrations by William O’Connor and Steve Ellis Why This Is the Class for You: You like to master the battlefield and control your enemies, while also having the tools to handle any situation you face. Some things no person is meant to know, some powers no mortal should ever wield, and some mysteries are best left buried in the lost manuscripts. Common wisdom advises all this, yet wizards have little use for such quaint warnings and plunge headlong into the occult without fear. For this reason, most people fear wizards, or if they don’t fear them, they at least steer clear of them—for who knows what magic they work in their laboratories or what terrible secrets they have unearthed? If wizards notice such an attitude, they pay it no heed or, perhaps, cultivate it to keep the uninitiated from peering too closely at the forces these magicians wield. A wizard, it has been said, is an arcane scion, a gifted individual trained in the mystical arts who accesses the power that permeates the cosmos and molds it into useful and often destructive forms. A wizard’s approach to magic is one of scholar- ship and accomplishment. To a wizard, there is no easy path to power; there is only research, discipline, and intellect. Those who circumvent the proper order, such as the dubious warlocks and their untamed cousins the sorcerers, pervert magi- cal energy—or, worse, are ruled by it. For this reason wizards guard their secrets well, teaching their lore only to those worthy candidates who have both the mental acuity and the strength of will to use it.

Talking Up Our Products With the weekly influx of new roleplaying titles, it’s almost impossible to keep track of every product in every RPG line in the adventure games industry. To help you organize our titles and to aid customers in finding information about their favorite products, we’ve designed a set of point-of-purchase dividers. These hard-plastic cards are much like the category dividers often used in music stores, but they’re specially designed as a marketing tool for hobby stores. Each card features the name of one of our RPG lines printed prominently at the top, and goes on to give basic information on the mechanics and setting of the game, special features that distinguish it from other RPGs, and the most popular and useful supplements available. The dividers promote the sale of backlist items as well as new products, since they help customers identify the titles they need most and remind buyers to keep them in stock. Our dividers can be placed in many ways. These are just a few of the ideas we’ve come up with: •A divider can be placed inside the front cover or behind the newest release in a line if the book is displayed full-face on a tilted backboard or book prop. Since the cards 1 are 11 /2 inches tall, the line’s title will be visible within or in back of the book. When a customer picks the RPG up to page through it, the informational text is uncovered. The card also works as a restocking reminder when the book sells.

  • DRAGONLANCE! Actually, the Name of the World Is Krynn
Another world, another adventure. Another reality to explore, a thrilling new … library? A library, complete with the faintly musty smell of old tomes.
