Cyfin® Hyper-V CV 5.0-8.0 | Admin Guide Advanced Employee Web-use Monitoring & Analytics

Important Information

• This guide is for Hyper-V hosts that run on Windows operating systems supporting virtual machine configuration versions 8.0 and earlier. • Ensure your hardware is compliant with the Hyper-V requirements for your particular solution for optimal performance and reliability. • If your daily log file size is greater than 1 GB, we recommend the Cyfin VM array configuration to improve performance. Contact Technical Support for information on the array configuration. • Syslog data is written to the VM drive by default. Technical Support will assist you with your initial VM disk space and follow up within 7 days to determine actual storage needs.

STEP 1: Download the .zip file and create a new VM.

• Download the Cyfin Hyper-V VM .zip file and extract the files. • On your Windows , open Hyper-V Manager.

• Under Actions, select New and then Virtual Machine. The New Virtual Machine Wizard will appear to walk you through the creation of a new VM. • On the Specify Name and Location screen, enter a name for the virtual machine, and change the default location if necessary. Click Next.

1 • Specify the generation of the virtual machine and click Next.

• On the Assign Memory screen, click Next. This can be set later. • On the Configure Networking screen, click Next. This will be configured later. • On the Connect Virtual Hard Disk screen, select Use an existing virtual hard disk.

• Click Browse to locate and select disk1 from the extracted Virtual Hard Disks folder. Click Next.

2 • Click Finish to create the virtual machine. Now, you will add the second virtual hard disk to the Cyfin VM.

• Under Actions, scroll to your new VM name and select .

• Click IDE Controller 0, and click Add to add a hard drive. • Click Browse to locate and select disk2 from the extracted Virtual Hard Disks folder. Click Apply and then OK.

3 • Verify that the allocated resources for your virtual machines are correct. Make any necessary changes. ○○ Minimum Requirements ♦♦ Processor: 4 CPUs recommended ♦♦ Memory: 8 GB recommended ♦♦ Root Drive: 20 GB ♦♦ Storage Drive: 100 GB (Contact Technical Support to discuss log data retention to determine disk storage needs.) • Start the virtual machine.

STEP 2: Connect your computer to the network. Note: Record your current IP address information BEFORE making the changes below, as you will want to change them back after you have successfully configured your network settings.

• From the Start on your computer, open Settings and click Network & Internet and then Network and Sharing Center. • Under View your active networks, click Local Area Connection. • The Local Area Connection Status dialog box will appear. Click the Properties .

4 • Select the appropriate Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click the Properties button.

• Select Use the following IP address.

• In the IP address field, type “10.40.10.2.” • In the Subnet mask field, type “255.255.255.0.” 5 • Click OK, and then restart your computer.

STEP 3: Configure network settings. Now you will configure the Cyfin VM for your network.

• Go to http://10.40.10.3:88. The Wavecrest VM Configuration screen appears so that you can enter network information.

• In the Hostname field, type a friendly name for the Cyfin VM. • In the Device drop-down field, select the network device. • In the Network Domain field, type the network domain name, e.g., internal.yourdomain.com. • In the IP Address field, type a local IP address (IPv4 only) for the Cyfin VM. • In the Netmask field, type the subnet mask. • In the Gateway field, type the default gateway IP address of your network. • In the Nameservers fields, enter the IP address of your primary DNS server. If you have a secondary DNS server, enter that IP address and so forth. • Click Submit to apply the configuration.

STEP 4: Configure your computer back to its original IP scheme. Using the IP information you recorded before making the changes to connect to the network, change your computer back to its original IP scheme using the instructions in STEP 2.

STEP 5: Add mapped drives for Cyfin VM installation. Mapped network drives may be set up to save reports and to access raw log files (non-syslog) on the network. Note: In the list of mapped drives, the Children column may display 0 for the following reasons: • The directory is empty. • The directory contains log files, but the remote path is invalid. Recheck your mapped drive settings to ensure they are correct.

• On the Mapped Drives tab, click the Add New Mapped Drive green plus .

• In the Local Folder field, type a name for the new folder that you want to create for mapping. 6 • In the Remote Folder field, type the remote path for the mapped drive. • In the Username field, type the network user name authorized to access this drive. • In the Password field, type the password for the authorized network user name. • Click Submit. The mapped drive will be added to the Mapped Drives list. • To delete a mapped drive, click the red x icon for the mapped drive you wish to delete.

STEP 6: Log on to the Cyfin interface. After a successful installation, users may now log on to the Cyfin interface through their browser. Go to http://cyfin_VM_IP_ address:7999, where cyfin_VM_IP_address is the local IP address for the Cyfin VM server entered above. Enter the following information to log on: • Logon: admin • Password: password

Configuring log files When configuring Cyfin to read your log files (non-syslog), on the Select Log File Directory screen, enter or browse to the path of your local VM folder, that is, /Wavecrest/Cyfin/mappeddrives/folder, where folder is the name of the local folder created above.

For syslog log file configurations, the Directory field will be populated with the default path and does not need to be changed.

Using Groups and IDs Before importing log files, determine whether or not you will use grouping. Groups and IDs can be imported manually or automatically, or you can add each group or ID manually. If you choose not to use grouping, we recommend that you place all of your users in Ungrouped IDs. See the User Management section in the product manual.
