Ancestry of Simon Anton Schild

Michael Schield: “There are two Bellenbergs in Germany. The one near Horn-Bad Meinberg is the one [involving our family] which is in Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia).” The following map is the other larger Bellenberg: west of Munich, west of Augsburg and south of Ulm.

All the other Bellenberg maps are of the smaller Bellenberg, Lippe between Hanover and Cologne.

Funeral of Simon Schild. Another Old Settler Ends the Journey of Life

The funeral of Simon Schild, who died Tuesday morning, was held from his late home Thursday afternoon at one o’clock, Rev. J. Q. Robinson and Rev. Werfield officiating. Simon Schild was born August 14. 1829, in Bellenberg, Lippe Detmold, Germany. In the year 1857 he came to America, locating in Freeport, Ill. December 28, 1861 he was married to Minnie Hildebrand. This union was blessed with nine children, five sons and four daughters. Two sons and one daughter, Mrs Blackden, preceded their father to the spirit world. Mr. Schild was converted in 1856, and joined the M. E. church. In 1868 he came to Benton County and lived on his farm, six miles northeast from Belle Plaine, where he also died Feb 21, 1905, aged 75 years, 6 months, 7 days. His illness was heart trouble and dropsy. He was a patient sufferer. He leaves a sorrowing companion, three sons and three daughters, one brother and one sister living in Germany, seven grandchildren and many other friends. Source: Vinton Eagle Newspaper.
