About us Xumo is a new player in the streaming TV game, focusing on the challenge of bringing quality internet content to living room screens throughout the US. Based in Irvine, CA, we are leveraging our partnerships with some of the largest electronics manufacturers globally to put ourselves in front of a huge number of customers.
Recently live on millions of devices in the US, with more in the works, we are seeing user growth week on week and need someone to help us both maintain and improve our platform.
About you
We're expecting that you:
• are a self starting, results driven individual. You relish the challenge of going where few others have gone before. • work well as part of a team, but can contribute individually. • would relish the chance to improve yourself working alongside your peers. • are able to communicate clearly and concisely with both your peers and the larger business as a whole. • are a finisher. You do what it takes to make things happen.
And that you know:
• Java EE, maybe even Node.js, and can script where needed. • Apache, Nginx, JBoss or WiIdFly. • Linux, preferably RHEL, but either way you're comfortable on the command line. • what a CDN is, what it's good for, and when to use it. • the Cloud. You've deployed applications to EC2, GCE, Azure etc.
Hopefully you:
• aren't afraid of SQL. You've played with Big Data systems such as Hadoop, Big Query etc. • understand automation. You've used Chef, Puppet, Salt etc. • have experience with video streaming. • understand how to design and implement beautiful REST APIs

Backed by our in-house, highly available, highly scalable, modern Java EE infrastructure, we're able to take our quickly expanding portfolio of licensed content and make it available seamlessly to users throughout the US.
We deliver content across a multitude of devices and platforms utilizing a single Infrastructure. TV is our strength, but we aren't limiting ourselves to it.
We cover all bases, from content encoding and streaming to client design and development. We manage millions of beacons a day and utilize data driven techniques to improve the product.
About the opportunity
We are looking for someone to join our engineering team, to assist and ultimately take responsibility for getting our solutions out of development and into production.
We're lucky enough to have an Infrastructure team we can lean on, so the role will be less about hardware and firewalls and more around configuring and deploying VMs in the cloud.
We're a small team who've built the end-to-end service from scratch. We're focused on delivering quality, well-engineered solutions that delight both consumers and device manufacturers.
