WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 5: JOHANNESBURG / CRADLE OF HUMANKIND, SOUTH AFRICA Visit the University of Pretoria Museums to view the gold and Iron Age artifacts of the Mapungubwe Collection. After lunch, see the UNESCO-listed Cradle of Humankind, discovery site of more than 40 percent of the world’s hominid fossils. The Sterkfontein Caves are where our famous ancestors, Mrs. Ples, Little Foot, and Sediba were discovered. In addition to visiting the museum and visitors’ center, there will be an opportunity to explore an active excavation. B,L,D
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7: JOHANNESBURG Transfer to the airport for a morning flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival, transfer to Cederberg for a two-night stay at Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Retreat. Nestled in the foothills of the Cederberg Mountains, Bushmans Kloof is a sanctuary to more than 130 ancient Bushman rock art sites and home to many endangered plant and animal species.
