Hello, and greetings from ! We are delighted to have the opportunity to invite your students to York University and the York University Institute (YUELI).

YUELI and York University provide an environment for academic excellence, a very dynamic and diverse community and a friendly and welcoming environment. Toronto is a multi-cultural, safe and fun city.

We are looking forward to offering you a strong and challenging Summer Language Program (SLP)/Summer Skills for Everyday English program (SEE). Our SLP/Summer SEE is designed for students who want to improve their overall command of English. The course focuses on speaking, pronunciation, grammar and listening skills and applies these to everyday situations. The goal of the program is to build students’ range of English usage, build confidence in speaking English and develop fluency Our extra-curricular program goals include: learning more about life in , experiencing the excitement of Toronto and the natural beauty of Canada, and making many new friends and memorable experiences.

A four week, 20 hour per week, Summer Language Program/Summer Skills for Everyday English Program taught by YUELI’s highly qualified instructors including activities, residence and insurance:

Trips and activities included:

Conversation Partnering Students meet in small groups; either 2 or 3 students, with a York University Student Trips Community Leader to practice Trips, led by a York University general speaking, listening and Student Community Leader, conversation skills. 8 YUELI – York University residence and insurance

•Accommodation in York University Residence, single rooms with shared bathrooms and common areas for 28 nights (arrival date is July 24th and departure date is August 21st at 11am); meal plan is not included but students can purchase flexible meal cards on campus; cooking in the residence is not permitted.

YUELI welcomes chaperones from to accompany their students to Canada.

Services available to Fudan chaperones: •NEXUS (wired computers, library) •Fax service in the YUELI office •Committee Room meeting space (must be booked in advance)

Students canceling from 30 days before the start of the program onwards will incur the following charges to be applied to the total per person cost:

•Cancellation received after 30 days before the start date: 25% withheld •Cancellation received after 15 days before the start date: 50% withheld •Cancellation received after start date: 100% withheld
