Thank you for your request for information which the GLA received on 2 October 2019. Your request has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act (2000).

You asked for:

1. Can you provide information and documents on the design rights, design licensing and intellectual property of the New Routemaster? 2. Does have a licence to manufacture using the NRM design features such as the the glazed staircase on their product design? 3. Under your previous administration with Mayor . He presented a challenge to manufacturers to develop and build spin-off buses using the DNA from the New Routemaster bus. Can you provide me documents and information in relation to it please? 4. Can you provide me the correspondence between the Mayor Boris Johnson and bus manufacturers on presenting a challenge to manufacturers designing their own products using New Routemaster design features?

Our response to your request is as follows:

The GLA does not hold the information you are seeking in relation to parts 1 and 2 of your request. Transport for (TfL) is the Mayor's transport authority and is responsible for implementing the Mayor's Transport Strategy, and for the day-to-day operational running of transport services. You may wish to send a further request to TfL at [email protected].

We do hold some correspondence between Boris Johnson and manufacturers in relation to the Routemaster design competition. Please find attached.
