15 . The Two Candles Bearers accompany the priest (without the candles) to the foot of the sanctuary in order to assist him in receiving the gifts. . The priest will give the gifts to the Candle Bearers.

20 . When the Blood of Christ is elevated the Altar Server will again ring the bells three (3) short times with a distinct break between each ring. Incense again is used with three double-swings (Note: after the Mystery of Faith and completion of Acclamation, the Thurifer returns the thurible to its stand). . The server may bow his or her head again and this time to pray silently, “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

Any Altar Server who has nothing in his or her hands is to stand immediately in front of the Cross and Candle Bearers but behind the lectors (Note: when incense is used at Mass, the Thurifer does not process out with the thurible and stands behind the Cross Bearer and the Candle Bearers. An exception to this is a Funeral Mass. At a Funeral Mass, the Thurifer does lead the procession out with the thurible). . The priest and deacon will reverence the altar with a kiss and then come around to the altar’s front and genuflect. All servers bow or genuflect.
• After the bow, everyone turns and process out of the sanctuary.
