by Caitlin Selle The evening of July 22 was one filled with good food and good conversation in the community room. Members of St. Francis’ were joined by two visiting students from China, James and Ocean, who are currently working as lifeguards at Six Flags as part of a work and travel program. As a potluck event, parishioners brought a wide variety of family and American dish- es to be served alongside food prepared by the visiting students, including fried rice, rice soup, and stir-fried greens. The students discussed their lives in Chi- na and fielded questions from parishioners on a wide variety of topics from economics and economic development to education. The opportunity to share food and con- versation with these students was a valua- ble chance to learn more about the world outside the United States and make new friendships. James and Ocean from China are spending the summer working at Six Flags, and they joined St. Francis’ parishioners for a potluck dinner on July 22. The Chalice Page 6 www.stfranciseureka.com

A Prayer for God’s Will Loving God, we pray that your will for us and for St. Francis’ Church be done. Rid our minds of personal goals and expectations, doubts and fears so that we may be vessels for your will and your expectations. We pray that your will for St. Francis’ Church be made manifest to us; and give us the courage to carry out your will whatever it is. We ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ, who always lived out your will in his life. Amen.
