Modern Healthcare’s Readers Favor Clinton as Next U.S. President

(CHICAGO) November 26, 2007 -- By a nearly 2 to 1 margin, healthcare industry executives favor Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) over her closest competitor to become 's 44th president next November, according to a straw poll of healthcare executives released today by Modern Healthcare magazine.

The complete results of the poll appear in the November 26 issue of Modern Healthcare . The theme issue is dedicated to the role that healthcare reform is playing in the 2008 presidential race. Providing care for the uninsured topped the respondents' ranking of the most pressing issues facing the industry followed by rising costs and financial challenges confronting healthcare providers.

''The results indicate that many of our readers recognize the deep understanding that Clinton has of the issues facing healthcare and prefer her plans to deal with them,'' said David Burda, editor of Modern Healthcare.

In addition to the poll results, Modern Healthcare's November 26 ''Guide to Healthcare in the 2008 Presidential Campaign,'' includes guest commentaries on healthcare reform from 12 presidential candidates, including Clinton; Sen.
