Journal of and Symptom Management (JPSM) Conflict of Interest Disclosures

The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) requires authors, reviewers and editors to disclose possible conflict of interest situations (financial or personal interests), real or apparent, that may or appear to affect the impartiality and the integrity of the peer review process of its journal, the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management (JPSM). Editors will be excluded from the review process if it is determined that they have a potential conflict of interest. The disclosure of a potential conflict of interest does not necessarily exclude an article from consideration for publication; the goal of disclosure is transparency.

Members of the editorial leadership team receive a stipend in their leadership roles with the journal: David Casarett, editor-in-chief and associate editors Amy Case, Marcin Chwistek, Sydney Dy, Ronit Elk, David Hui, Arif Kamal, Solomon Liao, Debra Parker Oliver, VJ Periyakoil, Tammie Quest, Tim Quill, Christian Sinclair and Elisha Waldman. In performing editorial tasks for the JPSM, it is expected that no editorial activities for any other scientific journal will be performed that may reasonably be considered as being in competition with or detrimental to the journal. This does not prohibit acting as a reviewer or participating in editorial boards for other journals. Editors annually provide an updated Conflict of Interest statement. These disclosures are posted on the AAHPM (aahpm.org) and JPSM (jpsmjournal.org) websites.
