An architectural gem like Taitlands deserves its place in history. Built by locally renowned Master Builders, Websters of in 1831 for Thomas and Jane Redmayne and later purchased by Thomas Stackhouse in1868. The Stackhouse family then sold to the YHA in 1944 and in 2008, the current owner purchased the property and has sympathetically restored it to a high standard.

The house is rich in original architectural detail, from the tessellated and polished floors, sash windows, French doors, original fireplaces to the ornate ceiling plaster work and columns, panelled doors with original door furniture and deep reveals, substantial skirting boards and architraves. The many date stones mark the marriages and births of Thomas Redmayne’s family. It’s a treasure trove for those seeking authenticity, style and character and is a testament to not only the original architects and craftsmen but the most recent renovators.
