Matters arising: Cultural strategy – an update will be sought for the next meeting. DH Cycling world championships – preparations are proceeding well. More communications will be sent out now that the Tour de Yorkshire is over. Work is progressing with businesses and to ensure access to health services. Part 1 2 Civic crowdfunding Action Scott Barnes of Spacehive gave a presentation on their civic crowdfunding offer. Spacehive is a crowdfunding platform for projects aimed at improving local civic and community spaces. It uses technology to widen citizen participation, acknowledging that the role of local government is changing. -

Dishforth Parish Council Meeting Tuesday 8th September 2015 Present: Mr J Brown (Chair) Mr R Williams In Attendance: Mrs R Dyble (Clerk) Borough Councillor Bateman County Councillor Atkinson Lindsay Pallister - Resident Apologies: Mr L Young Mr V Hanna Declarations of Interest: There were no declarations of interest Item Action 1.0 Minutes of Last Meeting The minutes of the meeting of the 14 th July 2015 were read and approved. No points of accuracy were recorded. Matters Arising: Planning Meeting re Grange Close took place 7 th Sept. Transparency Code documents on the web site. Some further work required. 2.0 Finance: The monthly accounts were read and approved. 3.0 Planning 3.1 Grange Close: Following the meeting on the 7 th the Chairman gave a verbal update on the current position: The land has to be sold for best value and the residents need to agree to the Parish Council (PC) taking this on. If the land could be sold to the PC then it would allow residents to have access to their properties and create off street parking where required and create more central parking and a turning space. Cllr Atkinson said she would help in any way she could. All resident to be consulted on the initial proposal RD before the next meeting. 3.2 South Lodge: The appeal against this planning refusal has been allowed. 3.3 Topcliffe Rd Update: Initial consultations with Harrogate Borough Council (HBC) indicate that the planners will be looking for more 1 bedroom properties. The PC wish to see family housing but will wait until the formal planning permission comments are requested. -

Also, Melanie, a big thank-you for taking on this important position. And also, of course, many thanks to her predecessor, Toni, for all his excellent, award-winning work over so many years. After a generally disappointing start to the season with several meets having to be cancelled, it’s now encouraging to note that the vast improvement to the weather has enabled us to get those vans out and things seem to be in full swing. I was hugely disappointed therefore that health concerns led me to cry off attending the Festival of Walking and Cycling – I actually got as far as Wakefield! – especially, as from all accounts it was an extremely enjoyable and successful event. Congratulations and thanks to all in Northern Area who were involved in its planning and its running. You even managed to arrange fantastic weather! I wrote in our last edition about the need to ensure we have enough volunteers to fill essential positions and it’s therefore heartening to know that Peakland and Northern Areas, and the Section itself, achieved a full complement. -

These walks are easy to complete and do not require special footwear. Most of the walks are suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. These walks are mainly flat and on surfaced paths, however they can become muddy in wet weather. These walks include rough terrain and steeper gradients, making them unsuitable for young children and the infirm. These walks are for the experienced rambler, are at high altitudes and require good compass reading skills. Walking boots, food and drink and appropriate clothing and waterproofs are essential. Podcasts are available for walks featuring this symbol, just visit the recreation section on the Yorkshire Water website and click on the podcast link. Visit the easy access page for a choice of more walks, all of which are suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Coin from Burgage Plot at Burton-In-Lonsdale C.T.J
Coin from Burgage Plot at Burton-in-Lonsdale C.T.J. Dodson and A. Ross The above coin was found during the spring of 2003 in field 0734, owned by A. Ross of Bull Farm House. It is copper, 2cm in diameter badly pitted on the reverse and identified by Dr A.J. White as a Scottish bawbee (sixpence) or more likely a turner or bodle (twopence). Such coins appear from the 17th century from James I/VI through to William and Mary. Just to add to the information, we have collected some details concerning the field in which it was found, it being one of two surviving burgage plots at Burton. Burgage plots at Burton Grenville defines a burgage plot as a long narrow plot of land running at right angles from the street frontage in a town (Ref [1] p198). Two fields of such characteristically long rectangular shape, perpendicular to High Street, are still clearly visible, both bounded to the north by the beck at the foot of Breastfield Hill. One is to the north of The Manor House/The Cross (originally a single building believed to be that referred to as the Earl of Derby’s Courthouse at the beginning of the 17th century cf. [2], [3], [15]) and the other to the north of Bull Farm House. These are, respectively, field 0734 (about 30 metres wide, area 1 acre) in which the coin was found, and field 0934 (about 18 metres wide, area 2/3 acre), as shown on the 1:25000 OS SD67 map and the current Conservation Area map. -

If you require the use of an iron and ironing board please ask at the house. Breakfast is served between 8:30am and 9:00am. No allowance will be made for meals not taken. We would like to remind you that all our rooms are no smoking. We kindly request that you vacate your room between the hours of 10:30am and 1:30pm to allow us to clean. If you are unable to do so we will be happy just to top up your tea tray on request. On the day of departure we request that you vacate your room by 10:30am. All vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk and we do not accept any responsibility for the loss or damage of them. Please park to the rear of the building unless you require any assistance. We kindly request that when you return on an evening you are as quiet as possible for the comfort of all our guests. Chief Executive, Yorkshire Dales National Park, Colvend, Grassington, Skipton, BD23 5LB 3. £hief Executive, Yorkshire Water, P0 Box 52, Bradford BD3 7YD CORONER I am JOHN BROADBRIDGE Assistant Coroner, for the Coroner area of North Yorkshire, Western District 2 CORONER’S LEGAL POWERS I make this report under paragraph 7, ScheduleS, of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 and Regulations 28 and 29 of the Coroners (Investigations) Regulations 2013. 3 INVESTIGATION and INQUEST On 3 August 2020 an investigation commenced into the death of MOHAMMED BILAL ZES, aged 18 years. The investigation concluded at the end of the inquest on 25 March 2021. The Conclusion of the inquest was that the deceased died because of drowning, to which COVID 19 and asthma were said to be contributory, and that his death was accidental. 4 CIRCUMSTANCES OFTKE DEATH On 31 July 2020 the deceased was at Linton Falls on the River Wharfe near Linton with family and friends. Although he could not swim, he jumped into the River and got into difficulties. Persons present tried to help but he became unresponsive. He was recovered eventually to a large rock where resuscitation compressions were attempted, then to the riverbank. He was recognised as deceased there at 21.18 hours that same evening from drowning. -
