The Statue of the Prize Seventh Session (2008-2011)
INVITATION
The Board of Trustees of Prince Faisal Bin Fahad International Prize for Arab Sport Development Researches declares with pleasure the time schedule for the Prize in its 7th session which will starts in June 2008 and ends in June 2011. The Board calls researchers and scientific personalities specialized in physical education, sport sciences and international research institutions to participate by researches, studies and excellent, update and outstanding scientific achievements to realize the philosophy and targets of the Prize for the development of sport movement in the Arab world to reach the international level. The Board declares the allotment of a financial prize of US$ 300,000 (three hundred thousand US dollars) as the greatest international prize in the field of sport to be distributed according to the value decided for the successful researcher in each of the main parts of the current session. As the Board is willing to offer equal opportunities to the researchers, the scientific sport personalities and research institutions applying to win one of the decided financial prizes, it draws their attention to the necessity for reviewing the articles of the bylaw and to strictly comply with the standards and conditions and with the time schedule set forth in the bylaw.

THE AWARD
The award's history His Royal Highness Late Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Bin Abdulaziz (May Allah Preserve His Soul) was very much concerned in researches related to the Arabian Sport cases, he realized the tremendous role of the schools which is considered the platform for creating very distinguished champions by gaining unique basic skills, based on such realization, His Royal Highness invited Professor Pierre Sorin President of International Federation of Physical Education (FIEP) to visit Riyadh in order to strengthen the mutual relationship between the Kingdom and the aforementioned association as well as exchange of expertise for the best interest of both parties which ended up in forming and establishment the foundation for Arab Association for Sport and Physical Education.
In 1981 A combined meeting held in the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with Professor Pierre Sorin President of FIEP such meeting was the birth place of idea to create award and formation of the Arab Association for Sport and Physical Education. In 1983 It was the initiative of His Royal Highness Late Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Bin Abdulaziz to determine an award for the best three researches which contribute to the development of Sport in the Arab countries in coordination with FIEP. In 1990 The award decreed to be at international level in coordination with FIEP using four official languages: Arabic, English, French and Spanish. The value of the award raised to become USD30,000. In 1997 A coordination meeting held in Paris between the Arab Federation for Sport and Physical Education

chaired by Dr. John Andrews and His Excellency Mr. Othman Al Saad Vice-President of FIEP and the General Secretary of the award aiming at creating an international Arbitration Committee for the award after being at international level, also, to establish and create Arab Association for Sport and Physical Education. In April 1998 A meeting held in Rabat between the arbitrators and FIEP in order to plan the required phases to execute the award. In July 1998 In Portugal the awards were distributed for the first time during the congress of the International Federation of Physical Education (FIEP). In January 2000 In Foz do Iguassu, Brazil, a complete delegation of the Arab Association for Sports Games representing the Arab and International Assessment Committee at the annual Congress of FIEP in order to strengthen the mutual relationships and to announce the award at international level, whereas, the award included in the agenda of the international congress and the value of the award increased to USD 30,000.
DEVELOPMENT OF THE AWARD - In the year 2001
His Royal Highness Prince Nawaf Bin Faisal Bin Fahad Bin Abdulaziz decided to form a higher committee for the award and increase its value up to USD 300,000 three hundred thousand U. S. Dollars, (100,000) one hundred thousand U. S. Dollars for each topic (the award consists of three topics), also, HRH decided that the award shall be awarded every two years instead of four years.
THE TIME TABLE OF THE AWARD
- The first Session of the award in the year 1984 and has been awarded during the meetings of the General Assembly of the International Federation of Physical Education (FIEP) held in Portugal in July 1988. - The second Session of the award in the year 1996 and has been awarded in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco during the month of July 1996. - The third Session of the award in the year 2000 and has been awarded in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during the month of February 2000. - The fourth Session of the award in the year 2003 and the award has been concealed whereas the number of researches weren't sufficient. - The fifth Session of the award in the year 2004-2005 and the award has been awarded in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during the month of April 2006. - The six Session of the award (2006-2007) announced the winners in Cairo, Egypt, November 2006. And should be awarded in Saudi Arabia early 2008. - The Prince Faisal Bin Fahad International Prize for Arab Sports Development Researches award ceremony in its sixth edition (2006-2007) was held in Damman (Saudi Arabia) on July 18th, 2008.

ABOUT THE FIEP
Founded in 1923 in Brussels, The Federation has as its aim to promote the development of the relationships between Physical Education and Culture, Education, Health, Sports Science, Sport and Tourism, for people of all ages in all countries of the world, to foster and contribute to social inclusion, inclusion of people with special needs, countries in development, culture of peace and protection of the environment and international cooperation. The FIEP is an independent, non-governmental organization ready to collaborate with all individuals, institutions and organizations in the pursuit of this broad aim. The Federation provides a network of contacts and a means of communication and exchange amongst individuals and organizations. It has 'Recognized Organization' status with the International Olympic Committee. It has close working relationships with the Arab Confederation of Sport and L'Union Arab de l'Éducation Physique et du Sport. The broad range of events, projects and other activities organized or supported by the Federation concern the scientific, technical, teaching and management aspects of physical education, sport, physical recreation, fitness and health. The principal means of action of the FIEP are: - Publication of the FIEP Journal, which has appeared in different forms for more than 69 years. - Organization and support of various activities, including: - Regional and ad-hoc Commissions. - Practical Courses, Congresses and Symposia, - Exchange Travel by both individuals and groups. - Research, documentation and information exchange with other national and international bodies. The FIEP network of National Delegates, Committees and members extends into more one hundred and twenty countries and this number is growing as new countries apply for membership.
