Anderson County Geological Formation Anderson County is in northwestern East Tennessee. The county’s northwestern third is part of µ Cumberland Mountains, a major 41 subregion of the northern half of the Cumberland Plateau. Nearly 41 level beds of Pennsylvanian-age 28 36 sandstones, shales, and minable coal 05 seams make up the stratigraphic units 05 in this area. The southeastern 05 13 12 two-thirds of the county is in the 10 30 Valley and Ridge.
