Michelle Singletary is a nationally syndicated personal finance, award- winning columnist for The Washington Post. Her column, "The Color of Money" is an award-winning column carried in dozens of newspapers across the country.

She is the author of three books:

Singletary was the financial expert for “The Revolution,” a daytime program on ABC. For two years, she was host of her own national television program “Singletary Says” on TV One. She is a frequent contributor to various NPR radio programs and has appeared on national cable and television network shows, including "Oprah,” NBC’s “Today Show,” CBS’s “The Early Show and CNN.

In 2019, she was awarded the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW), the organization’s highest honor given to an individual who has made a significant impact on the field of business journalism. She was also inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Society of Professional Journalists Washington, DC, Pro Chapter. Fellow 2019 inductees included CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer and CBS News White House Correspondent Peter Maer. Singletary is the director of Prosperity Partners Ministry, a financial program she founded at her church, First Baptist Church of Glenarden (FBCG). Through the ministry she teaches on various financial topics. As part this ministry, she and her husband also volunteer to teach financial literacy to prison inmates. At FBCG’s The Institute, Singletary and her husband, Kevin, teach a 12-week class called “Mastering Money In Marriage.” In her column, media appearances and ministry, Singletary delivers advice on personal finance issues that range from lending your honey money (Don’t do it!), to raising money smart kids (You can do it!) to the importance of getting out of debt, saving and investing (You must do it!).

Singletary is a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, and Johns Hopkins University, where she earned a master's degree in business and management. Singletary and her husband reside in Maryland with their three children and dog, Simba.
