Re: Sponsorship Opportunity for Foothills Stingrays Swim Club

On behalf of the Foothills Stingrays Swim club I am writing to request a donation from the Town of Okotoks for our annual fundraiser. As one of the largest user groups of the recreation centre, we would like to ask for your support and would like to request a donation of one (1) Family Recreation Centre Pass and 12 lane/hour rentals in the Riley Minue pool (to be used in 1 lane per hour for private coaching sessions during non-peak operating hours). We estimate the value of this donation at $1,400.

We are the Foothills Stingrays Swim Club, a year round competitive and successful swim club based in Okotoks. We have over 80 families in our club and a wide reach of members. Our swimmers range from ages 4 – 18 and our membership including our swimmers as well as their families spend considerable time at the Okotoks Recreation Center. Many of our athletes spend over 6 hours per week training at the ORC. Our club is a registered non-profit run by volunteers and parents with all proceeds of our fundraising going directly back to support our young athletes.

Part of the training of a swimmer is learning how to best perform at high level and travel swim meets. We do not want any barriers in sending our athletes to these meets, especially financial. As a result, we are holding our annual Spring Fundraising Event on June 23, 2018 to raise money to help send our swimmers to these meets. Funds raised will help pay for local Alberta meets for our less experienced swimmers and National level meets across Canada for our more experienced athletes. In 2018, we sent a record 32 swimmers to Southern Alberta Short Course Provincial Championships in Calgary. This is 40% of our athletes that are qualified as being within 10% of the top 16 swimmers in their age group.

If you could contribute to our Fundraiser, we would be happy to include you on the list of sponsors for our event. With your donation of one (1) Annual Family Recreation pass and the lane hours we would be happy to list The Town as one of our Gold level sponsors with special mentions throughout the event. We will of course, arrange to have a donation picked up from your facility.
