(include a record of volunteer hours it‘required) A vibrant and dynamic County, r:.j/Iectingstrong values and progressive nltiludes, while balancing nature and economic growth in a global environment. The Peace Region Dance Society hosts a regional Dance Festivalevery year, in the spring. This year, the event willtake place at Peace River HighSchoolon March 24-26, 2017.
Last year, there were approximately 5-6 different dance studios from around the Peace region that attended the event, including RainbowLake, High Level,Smoky River, High Prairie and Valleyview. For the 2016/16Festival,there were approximately 200+ dancers that took part in the event.
During this event, students are critiqued by an adjudicator, whether doing a solo or a group dance. This is a great way for students to showcase their skilland get feedback from a professional in the dance field. A lot of these students compete around Alberta, so this Festival is a great warm up to the other competitions that they willattend in April, May or June.
This 2 clay event is a huge commitment for PRDSto take on. From organizing the event with logistics, finding volunteers to assist throughout the day, setup and clean-up, and an MC.
This year the studios in our region that have been invited are: Beaverlodge, High Level, Rainbow Lake, Valleyview, High Prairie, Peace River (Movement Speaks, Muzyka Ukrainian Dancers, Peace River Scottish Society), Smoky River, Fort St. John and various Grande Prairie studios.
We have some wonderful dance studios in Northern Alberta, and besides Grande Prairie, this is the only other dance Festival within our region. The PRDShas successfully completed 11 Festivals to date, and would love any assistance you can give, for the 12"”year.
