During COVID 19 - Pulse oximetry used under clinical supervision can help identify ‘silent hypoxia’ and rapid patient deterioration for patients with COVID-19 living at home including in care homes; O2 Saturation monitors allocated to homes supporting people with learning disabilities as these individuals may are at higher risk of experiencing of ‘silent hypoxia’. Request for pulse oximeters should go to: [email protected]. Guidance is available on the use of pulse oximetry to detect early deterioration of patients with COVID-19 in primary and community care settings.

Palliative Care:

SHFT- General End of life (including non-specialist end of life care delivered by community/ district nursing teams) Palliative Care and provide very specific care i.e. wound dressing, managing syringe drivers CIRS staff are skilled in having end of life discussions with patients approaching terminal phase of their disease. During COVID 19 have supported care homes local via telephone  UHS: Palliative Care Team to UHS staff to support general palliative care provision to inpatients  Health Education England: provide 160 highly interactive sessions to support health and social care professionals to implement NICE guidelines and support care of dying adults in the last days of life  NHSE/I: During COVID 19 Fortnightly webinars: Slide set accompanying the sessions is available via the Palliative Care End of Life (PEOLC) Practitioners network on Futures NHS site, via the NH Futures website: Includes EOLC guidance for Children and Young People in all care settings; EOLC support for homeless people; people with disabilities and specific sessions for people with learning disability.
