NEWSLETTER IBI Net e.V. Association Dear colleagues, On March 26 2013 the IBI Net Association held its first General Assembly as a legally registered association! The meeting took place in Berlin at the Mercure Airport Hotel and the following is a short resume of the discussions during the meeting. Representatives from Belarus, Sweden, Norway and Germany were present and Mario Kokowsky from Greifswald was elected chairman for the meeting. Apologies were received from Latvia due to illness. The distributed agenda was approved and under the financial item Mario Kokowsky informed the meeting that six out of seven membership fees had been received giving a revenue for 2012 of € 1.500. Only some minor expenses had occurred ending up with a total amount of € 99,43 spent during 2012. The Executive Board was unanimously discharged of their liabilities. As stipulated in the Statutes 2 Executive Board members should be elected and we can therefore welcome Martin Stok from Norway and Lyudmila Shmygova from Belarus as new EB members. Mario Kokowsky and Sture Ericsson remains in the EB for another year. Mario Kokowsky gave a short report of activities during 2012 which due to the delay in the registration process not had been very many. He continued to give an overview of proposed activities for 2013 followed by a discussion regarding priorities. The first main activity is organizing a workshop in Greifswald May 6th – 8th during the Nordischer Klang Festival. After some discussion the General Assembly endorsed the proposal and approved TZV to use some funds for organizing the workshop. A separate invitation will be distributed soon and all IBI Net members are encouraged to distribute it further in their networks. TZV also asked the members to send relevant e-mail addresses ([email protected]) to them to widen the distribution. Don’t miss this opportunity! The suggestion which was presented in the previous newsletter regarding the possibility to arrange a study trip to Silicon Valley was also discussed. A proposal had been developed by an external agency but after some discussion it was decided that we need to ask the members more in detail for interested places to visit for benchmarking studies. Maybe Silicon Valley is not the right place for our members. It was agreed that our member from Hedmark in Norway should prepare a simple questionnaire before any decision is taken in this matter. Please reply to the questionnaire when it arrives in your mailbox. In order to improve communication it was decided to start an IBI Net group in Linkedin. This was quickly done and you can already now sign in for the group. 2 Our member in Belarus had been kind enough to develop a professional Certificate of Membership which was distributed during the meeting. Members not being present can contact Benjamin Techen if they wish to receive the Certificates prior to next meeting. After the formal closing of the first official General Assembly of IBI Net three interesting presentations were made: • Technology Center Vorpommern Topic: Coworking - special kind of incubator space • Stiftelsen Teknikdalen Topic: Financing of incubators • Hedmark Kunnskapspark Topic: Technology Centers in rural areas All three presentations stimulated interesting discussions and it was noted that our members have vast knowledge in various aspects of incubation which certainly must be of interest to others too. This should be used as an argument to join our IBI Net Association. Sture Ericsson Chairman IBI Net 3 .
