RESEARCH PROGRAM

Doctoral Research Training at the Grenoble Ecole de Management

My research interests lie at the intersection of marketing, social entrepreneurship and business ethics. My research sites are socially-oriented businesses, in particular within the organic food and beverage industries.

I was awarded the OBA degree from the Grenoble Graduate School of Business in early 2019. The title of my dissertation is "Non-Financial Value in Certified Benefit Corporations", which grounds my work in business ethics and social entrepreneurship, with a secondary focus on organizational theory and strategic marketing. At the heart of my research are "hybrid organizations", which experience growth/scaling challenges in highly competitive markets. My dissertation included a case study of a Berkeley craft brewer, a survey of the brewer's stakeholders, and an empirical study of the entire California population of nearly 350 Certified Benefit Corporations, most of which are socially-oriented, entrepreneurial startups.

My OBA workshops included research methodologies, research design, data collection methods, and data analysis techniques, formulation of a research question and literature review, design of the research model, execution of a "pilot project" and reporting managerial implications. I was thoroughly trained in qualitative and quantitative methods, including survey design and analysis with Qualtrics, SPSS and SurveyMonkey, and Atlas.ti qualitative research analysis software. Upon completion of Stage 1, I also earned the Certificate of Research in Management Sciences from Grenoble.
